hey ladies hope everyone is doing ok...
i posted a few days ago about my morning sickness and work issues.
things have gone from bad to a whole lot worse...
i've only just started this job, and its a skincare counter in a dept. store, so the role is sales based. i've been really struggling because i am so soooo poorly, its not just sickness, i'm exhausted, working till 10 some nights and my counter manager is a friend, well i thought she was a friend but shes reported me to my area manager that im not pulling my weight, im being negative and not achieving sales. i feel so awful because i realise im letting work done, but i literally dont have the strength to go in, let alone be some fabulous sales woman. i cant have any time off because the counter manager is off on holiday for 2 weeks and if i call in sick i wont get paid as i'm a new starter.
all in all, i feel like this pregnancy is ruining everything, i'm in tears every day and now i'm so certain i'm going to lose my job once my probabtionary period is over.
i just want to be happy and excited but i am just so so stressed :(
i know theres nothing i can do but carry on and try my best i just needed to get this out.
:(

Do they know you are pregnant hun?

Oh dear, they should really be a lot more accomodating!

If all else fails you'll have to get the Dr to sign you off I guess?

I am sorry that your work colleagues are not being more understadning hun.

I am sure they other girls will be able to make some more practical suggestions?

its a catch 22 hun, i really cant afford to be signed off, but my area manager has told me not to come into work unless i can give 110% which is impossible the way im feeling atm :(

hey christy!

Sorry that you feel so bad but all I would say is stick in at it. Either theyr assholes that are just being assholes or they have realised that they have just hired you and you will now take mat leave and are doing what they can to shove you out.

I would keep a note of everything that is said to you, just incase they are trying to find some other reason like "you arent pulling your weight" to get you sacked.

At the end of the day, your pregnant, your not a peice of rubbish and dont deserve to be treated like it!

Oh and one last thing, dont stand for any shit. They will prob be trying to push you and find an excuse but it doesnt mean that you have to take shit in the long run. Make sure that if any more "threats" like dont show up if you cant give 110% are noted.

Failing all of the above, go higher than your smart arse manager and contact a HR rep :)

thanks hun, i'm not entitled to mat pay with them anyway because of the time i started, but i guess it would be a whole lot easier for them to just start someone new who isnt going to take so much time off before xmas rush starts...
its such a horrible situation to be in, and i dont want to lose where i live, but i just dont want to be getting so worked up about a job, i know its irrelevant in the long run!!!
ARGH
thank goodness for this day off, i can cope with this morning/all day sickness when i dont have to leave bed! haha xxxx

yeah but you will still be entitled to mat leave with statutory pay will you not ? everyone is entitled to this .. I think?

Personally, if it was me I would take the piss right out of it and just say you dont want me here under 110% I wont be in, get sick lines - but I know this isnt an affordable option to you.

I hate when jobs try and take the piss out of pregnant people. Lucky I work in the nhs and its a lovely place to work when your pregnant lol, all the services handy and no appointment waiting!

i think im only eligible for maternity allowance... or is that the same thing??? government websites are sooooo confusing xxxxx

yeah i think so yeah.

you get your time of an like mimimum goverment pay.

if you phone your local benefit office and say you arent entitled to mat pay with your new job and is there any other kind of benefit that you are able to claim..
