Anyone given any thought yet to what their little one will be wearing home from the hospital/birthing centre etc? I know I'm considering a home birth but still want a really special first outfit. Anyone got any thoughts? Pics?

Hiya :D

Well it'll be early summer when my LO arrives so for coming home from hospital I was thinking maybe a vest and sleepsuit with a warm jacket on and a blanket for his car seat to keep his legs warm.

Knowing the midwives they'll probably say Im wrong though

well i was thinking the same.. as she will be born the 12th on june, i was thinking she could wear a vest with a cute little track suit i got her, and a blanket

i think that should be ok

we finally went and bought some stuff this weekend. Went to mothercare and they had an offer on vests, so got a 7 packs of sleeveless and a 7 pack of long sleeved. So, prob one of these!

Got home at lunchtime to find a parcel from my Aunty in Canada, who is 75 and suffering from leukemia. She had knitted the most adorable cardigan for the baby, really chuffed with it.

My MIL has also made 2 cardigans and some booties, so may put the baby in these too if they fit and it is not too hot (end July/ beginning of August!)

I got some vests with the same Mothercare offer TopBird! :)

This is a nice thing to think about and it hadn't occured to me before. I agree Nicola it would be nice to have something special for baby to travel home in. :)

Glad I'm not the only one thinking about this...I'm due tail end of July / very early August so it's likely to be quite warm (obviously depending on the time of day/night my little boy is born).

Was thinking along these lines (from Next):

...Set comprises of dungarees and striped bodysuit. Dungarees 100% linen. Bodysuit 100% cotton.

What do you think? Possibly a little cardigan/blanket with us too we only live a 5 minute walk (if that!) to the hospital so don't need heaps for in the car etc if we did need a hospital delivery.

This is the only thing I have really planned, and this is his first outfit, (a home birth's a real possibility). I saw it in the very early days but it's never left my mind and I can see him in it :)

Where did you find that!!!

I've got to have it!!!

Hi

With Kiara we brought her home in a sleeper and an onsie. With a pink hat But she was a winter baby
So this one i think a very light sleeper and a blue hat and a light blanket depending if we leave at night or not though?

ok - don't laugh. but i actually crochet (no i'm not a granny)

Ive almost finished a huge white shawl which will be for coming home from hospital. Dylan will probably just wear a plain bodysuit or babygro underneath, depending on how hot the weather is, and then be wrapped in the shawl.

This outfit is really sweet. I might get something similar for my little boy.

I also like the idea of the home made shawl though. That's really special.
Shame I don't have anyone who can crochet in my family :(

I can't crochet either (although likewise, love the idea!) I did teach myself to knit when I got my BFP, I'm not the best but I have knitted my baby a recieving blanket, I knitted 20 mint green squares, 20 creamy white, 20 pink and 20 blue...I then sewed them all together with left over wool. It turned our everso well for a first project, little wonky in places but given it was my first ever attempt I was thrilled with it and obviously it means more than anything I could buy in store. I'd love to now make a shawl but where I'd begin I have no idea.

Like the Blooming Marvellous romper, they do some cute ones in there, I always liked the one that says "always ready for kisses" or something and the 50% Mummy, 50% Daddy, 100% Cute one! :D

You all have lovely ideas, I love the rompers from Blooming Marvellous, I might invest there!
My Mum is making a shawl for my LO, she made one for each of my older children, crocheted, white, but they each have different colour trim, the funny thing is, that now my two other kids are big, (fifteen and eight) they still love their baby shawls, and when they are sick, specially the little one, wants it on the bed, to wrap up in, say it makes them feel better! I love the idea that it has been as special for them to have Granny's shawl as it has been for me! :)

I'm surprised BM still do this range.

I had the exact same ones for my twins 8 years ago! :D

I feel bad now for saying he's just gonna be wearing a vest and babygro. Im gonna get him something a bit more special for his first outfit :D

Thats if OH will let me anyway, you should see how many clothes we've already got for him
