Hi girls, I have my lap on Wednesday and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of starting IVF the following month or if I'll be told to wait longer? My lap will be cd6 and we have a consultant appointment at Bourne hall on 15th April which will be cd26 and I'm wondering if we'll be able start soon after that xx

I waited 3 months after lap before my first round of IUI x

I was told that you need 2 months recovery but it might depend on whether they have to remove anything, e.g. endometriosis.
You haven't had a lap before have you? I hope it goes well and you recover really quickly.

No it's my first lap, dreading it now, preying its a quick recovery so we can crack on to IVF xx

The actual procedure is fine. I had a nice mid morning sleep! My blood pressure took a while to get back to normal but that's not unusual for me. And my tummy was sore where they blow it up!

Just make sure that you rest completely the day of the op and do as little as possible for the next few days. You've got a small child haven't you? Have you got someone to look after him/her? I went back to work after a week but some people needed longer if they had treatment.

Is yours this week?

Hey yep it's this Friday. I have a 4 year old daughter so hubby is off work Friday and the following Monday to Wednesday, he'll go back earlier of I'm ok. I guess it depends what/if they have to do anything whilst in there as to how sore I am, getting really quite nervous now :-(

That sounds perfect. You'll only want to lie on the sofa for a couple of days. I'm remembering things about mine now! If you want to read about it in detail the post was called: 'Lap and dye went well, phew!' and I wrote it on 14/03/13! I only just remembered that it snowed the day before and I was worried that it would be cancelled and I'd have to prolong the wait!
Its understandable to be nervous. I'll be thinking of you on Friday. x

Thanks lovely, I'll defo dig the post out and have a read xxx

So it's 3 days since my lap and my tummy is certainly feeling less sore and tender but I still feel really light headed, I know i reacted badly to the anaesthetic but I hope this is normal...xx

I kept feeling faint after the anaesthetic and only felt better after drinking a can of Tango! But I was ok the next day. Do you normally have low blood pressure or blood sugar?
How did the op go?

I do have low blood pressure generally so perhaps that's it, I reacted badly to the anaesthetic and couldn't move without vomiting, it was awful and i had to be admitted for the night so u guess it'll take a whole to clear my system.

The lap showed I had an ovary and tube stuck to my stomach which was freed and lots of endo lasered off and I think something else...I'm a bit confused as one surgeon said the left ovary was stuck and the other said the right...I've called the consultants secretary to find out. Consultant said the position of the stuck ovary was so high that had we had IVF they wouldn't have been able to reach it for egg collection so I'm glad that's been sorted, feel very unclear about our chances of natural conception though and generally a bit bleurgh today xx

Oh that's awful. Did you have an ultrasound before the laparoscopy? I would have thought they could have seen it then?
I'm glad it wasn't just me feeling nauseous after the op, I felt a bit pathetic at the time!
I really hope you feel better soon. You must feel a bit daunted but relieved its over?

Funny enough when I had my ultrasound a year ago now the lady doing it commented on one of my ovaries and tubes but not the other...wish I'd questioned it now as I suspect she couldn't bloody see it. I guess I'll never really know now. I still feel confused, hopefully I'll get a call back as I really want to know if my tubes are patent or not now.

I'm feeling very pathetic today!! Very pleased its over, wish I'd had it done a year ago xx

Did they not tell you if the dye went through when you came round? It must be so frustrating not knowing. And its bad when they only give you half the info at the ultrasound. How are you feeling now?

I have since spoken to the consultants secretary who read some bits out and the die did spill but very slowly so although they're open they're not great and I have a big risk of ectopic which is worrying. Feeling a bit better today thanks xx

Hi dee

I will need a lap as well, got told both my tubes are blocked. I feel confused because the consultant said there will be an increase in ectopic pregnancy, just feel like my head is spinning at the minute xx
