Lady bits hygiene after labor??

Some of my stitches came out a few days after giving birth so I stuck with showers and a pat dry - no soaps allowed! I didn't have stingy wee though but I think I tore down rather than up which I think makes a difference?

I had a warm bath every night with some lavender oil in it, I mixed 10 drops of lavender oil in a small glass of milk and put it in the bath.

I never got any infections either. For straight away afterwards use just water.

A handy hint I got on here for after for when you pee is to lean forward and touch the floor and OMG it really worked looked stupid but I was in so much pain every time I pee'd I didn't care.

xxxx

I also did the lavender oil n milk bath n it worked a treat xxx

Midwife reccomended arneca aswell xx

Just plain water baths, changed pads often and leaned forward when peeing! Never had any infection and stitches healed fine.

I showered every day as usual to clean rest of body but then went from shower into bath with tea tree oil and patted dry. Also changed pad after every pee. Never had stingy pee even with stitches.

I lean forward and touch the floor still when I pee then pour warm water over after. I change my pad every time I go to the loo also to make sure it's as clean as possible.

I also have used tea tree oil in my bath which has speeded up the healing process.

I haven't used soap on my inner lady parts but this week I started using baby wash to the front front part and my bum. I'm sure some of the soapy run off goes over my stitches but its been ok and at least it's clean.
Xx

Too bad I don't have a bathtub :( I suppose showers only for me and fx is enough

We only have a bath

For once it seems it may come in handy!

This was yet another aspect I had given zero thought about... I guess it's good to know and have a plan if need be!

xxxxxxx

I used to have quick showers as after a bit the warm water stimulated my milk flow and I was all dirty again! Remember to have breast pads to hand! I used a similar wash for my lady bits after a week and didn't get an infection .

I used lavender dettol in my baths. I had a 2nd degree tear and when my midwife came to examine me 3days after the birth it had healed already. I do ted to heal quite quickly anyway though, but never had any infection. And for peeing yes definetly lean forward it makes a big difference! X

Warm water is fine to clean any wound. Soaps etc will probably just irritate it and make it sore x

i just used water with lavender and tea tree, and the leaning forward on the loo really works as well! MW also told me to put a couple of drops of lavender oil on my pads, really helped and i healed up really quick, only had a couple of grazes tho, but everytime i smell lavender oil now i think of having a tiny baby :) its quite nostalgic :)

I know this may sound insane but i used to use dettol antiseptic, apply little drop in hotwater not too hot to burn your bits but it works.

Still waiting for personal experience, but I've heard some ladies say it helps when peeing if you sit on the toilet and lean right forward, so the pee doesn't go anywhere near the sore area, then you can just gently pat with toilet roll and you're good to go.

Possibly an idea for if you can't do the water thing for any reason (forgot jug, out, at a friends, etc) x

I have a bath everyday, with 2 drops of lavender essential oil in...bliss :)

Soon after having my son, a nurse came along to clean me up and she asked if I has any body easy or shower gel with me, which I did, and all was well x
