On 19th Feb at 4.05pm our beautiful baby boy entered the world after going 13 days overdue.
He was born at home in a birthing pool. I managed contractions on paracetamol up until I was about 7-8 cm dilated and then went on to gas and air until I started pushing which was done on no pain relief. The pushing bit was very prolonged as unfortunately being a horse rider my pelvic floor was actually too strong! But after about 2 hours of pushing hell he was born. Unfortunately the umbilical cord detached from the placenta and the placenta was retained so after all the hard work of labour and birth without any medical intervention I ended up having to go in to hospital and have a spinal :-( and am now stuck on a ward full of screaming babies when we should have been at home snuggled up as a family together. But in the grand scheme of things the labour was pretty good considering it was my first baby and I'm so happy I managed to have my homebirth. I would seriously recommend it to anybody, the midwives were simply amazing.

Congrats again - he's a beauty and well done on your labour at home - sounds perfect ( apart from retained placenta) but hey he's here safe and sound x

Congrats again. Lots of positive birth stories since I last read. Just had a little giggle at your comment bout being on ward with screaming babies. I was on a bay with 6 of us and the first thing I said when I got out yesterday, was thank goodness I'm away from the screaming babies and whinging women! Lol

Oh my goodness. He is adorable and well done you for a fab labour. xx

Congratulations he's gorgeous.

Awww bless he is so cute! Well done! Shame you ended up in hospital, but glad you got your HB, gives me hope, this is my first and I have opted for home birth too! (hopefully with water) Fingers crossed! Also didnt know you could have too strong pelvic floor muscles, maybe I should lay off the excercises then, I was thinking mine was fairly strong before as I've always done them, just thought the stronger the better, but maybe not! xx

Beautiful baby and beautiful name, huge congrats, you did amazing!! xx
