On 19th Feb at 4.05pm our beautiful baby boy entered the world after going 13 days overdue.
He was born at home in a birthing pool. I managed contractions on paracetamol up until I was about 7-8 cm dilated and then went on to gas and air until I started pushing which was done on no pain relief. The pushing bit was very prolonged as unfortunately being a horse rider my pelvic floor was actually too strong! But after about 2 hours of pushing hell he was born. Unfortunately the umbilical cord detached from the placenta and the placenta was retained so after all the hard work of labour and birth without any medical intervention I ended up having to go in to hospital and have a spinal
and am now stuck on a ward full of screaming babies when we should have been at home snuggled up as a family together. But in the grand scheme of things the labour was pretty good considering it was my first baby and I'm so happy I managed to have my homebirth. I would seriously recommend it to anybody, the midwives were simply amazing.
