Hi ladies ! Haven't been in for a while back from Ireland now and had my early scan today ! Everything looks good ! Heard the heartbeat was amaaaaazing !!! They dated me as 8wks4d but my lmp is 8weeks today anyway do glad all is well. Hope all you ladies are doing well, got my letters through one for 16th June and the other 1st of July both letters say scan but I'm sure the first one is just booking in maybe they got the letter wrong .

Home from scan. Really happy now baby is measuring fine and I seen its little heartbeat. I can relax a teensy bit now. No pic though she wants me back in a month and will give me pics then. Done abdominally too. Xxxx

Booked my early scan sat 7th - will be 7+5 I think - only a week to go!!

Hope everyone's doing ok? I sill have very few symptoms- main one is bloating and trouble pooping!! And suddenly absolutely exhausted! X

Yay for the fab news re: early scans We have ours next Saturday and I can't wait. Hubby is away for our 12 week scan so this will be his chance to see our little pip before the 20 week scan.

Hi all. I had my booking g in appointment on Friday. I was told my 12 week scan is on 3rd July when ill be about 11 weeks. Does anyone think this will be too early?

On another note, last night I woke at 3pm with the most awful nausea. It kept me awake for ages.

Hi princess....

If you are having the nuchal fold measured. Ie the downs syndrome testing then it needs to be between 11w - 13w 6d.

If you are unsure of your dates and there is a chance you could be earlier on then maybe ask for the scan a week later? That is if you want that part of the scan

Thanks for that advice. When the midwife gave me that date I said that I could possibly be just under 11 weeks and she said that was completely fine and said that the scan is up to 12 weeks. I am.having the downs screening but she said to me that would be a blood test a few weeks after the scan? On the sate of the scan ill be between 10 weeks 4 days and 11 weeks 1 day. More likely being about 10 weeks 6 days

Hmmmm... The professionals obviously know best, however I think your MW has booked you in too early.

Just had a read on the NHS website and current advice is that the scan that checks the nuchal fold has to be undertaken between 11w 2d and 14w 1d

Sounds like you MW has booked you in for a normal dating scan and then then quadruple blood test (that is done after 14 weeks)

There are screening tests that can assess your chance of having a baby with Down's syndrome. These are:

• Blood test plus nuchal translucency ultrasound scan
• Quadruple blood test

Blood test plus nuchal translucency scan

This involves a blood test and an ultrasound scan. All women should be offered a dating scan between weeks 8 and 14 of pregnancy, and a nuchal translucency scan between 11 weeks, 2 days and 14 weeks, 1 day of pregnancy. If you choose to be screened for Down's syndrome, the dating scan and the nuchal translucency scan can be carried out at the same time, between 11 weeks, 2 days and 14 weeks, 1 day of pregnancy.
The blood test measures two proteins associated with pregnancy. At the ultrasound scan appointment, the sonographer measures the thickness of the nuchal translucency (a pocket of fluid) at the back of your baby's neck. The information from the blood test is combined with your age and the nuchal translucency measurement and used to work out your individual chance of having a baby with Down's syndrome.

Quadruple blood test

If it has not been possible for you to have the combined screening test in early pregnancy, you will be offered a blood test between 14 weeks, 2 days and 20 weeks.
This test is sometimes called the quadruple test, and measures four proteins associated with pregnancy. This information is combined with your age and used to work out your individual chance of having a baby with Down's syndrome.

It doesn't say which one is "statistically" more valuable???

Thanks! Il will be 7 weeks 5 days. I could have gone in earlier but we're on holiday in rhodes (booked it when our last cycle didnt work!). Im a little bit scared of going on holiday while this early on but ive been told its fine. My scan is booked for the day after we fly home.

I go away in 13 days, wasn't meant to be proper TTC until after this holiday as I so didn't want to be in Tri 1 when we went away.. oh well lol.

We have a scan before we go

(I have history otherwise I'd not be fussed about traveling in tri 1)

Princess I'm in exactly the same boat- just been given my scan date of 27th June and by my calculations I'll only be 10+4 but by lmp I'd be 12 weeks- they're not listening to me at all so I have to stick to the scan at 10w4d!! I've been told I'd be rescanned if it's too early?
