My specialist's secretary said she cant give me any results on the phone, or by letter, even though the doc is away for a week then they're "very busy so it'll probably be a long time before you hear from us". Is this something that happens in all hospital trusts? I just feel like i should be able to make that decision for myself. I am an adult and it's my blood they took, and my tax they used to pay for the tests!

Apparently they were waiting for my HSG and OH's SA results before they would send me a letter with a 'plan', but i couldnt get the HSG done because of the risk of anaphyllaxis and OH has been head-burying too. She also told me they don't do a saline hsg so i'll have to go private if i want one. The moneys not a problem but it just feels unfair and if i just go ahead and get the normal one ill be terrified i'll die on the table or damage my abdomen even more.

I finally rang up for my blood tests results after putting it off for months (i have a mental health problem which means i have a massive problem talking on the phone). I'd rang them a few times and left a message when i first got them done, but got no answer and just couldn't face it since.

I dont think I can wait (i know that probably sounds stupid when ive waited months already). Im going mad this week symptom-spotting even though i feel like theres 0% chance of a bfp. I should be grateful that im young(ish) and actually get my AF every month, unlike a lot of women ttc, but i cant help feeling like this.

Could you ask for them to be sent to your GP?

Her patient manner is terrible by the sounds of it, how does it help to tell someone that it'll be a very long time?

This drives me mad as well. I've had similar issues and what I did find out is that there's a national blood register or something so the GP or the hospital should be able to give you your bloods regardless of who took them - is there someone else involved that could give you them?

Thanks girls,

I'd been to the GP already because they'd told me to go there for results. The GP said "they say that before they even hear the question". He looked on the system but no sign of them, and said i had to go to see the specialist. He seemed annoyed that they hadnt been in touch with me and said he would give them a ring to find out why.

I'll probably just sit and wait for months, never hear anything then get told there aren't any results after all. Theyre so bloomin useless arent they? x

It always makes me wonder how the elderly can get all the care and medication they need with the amount of running around you have to do to get an answer!

Hopefully a resolution will come soon for you but I hunk you have to dig deep and don't take this as an answer from them xx

I will ring my GP, thanks. Ill research the blood register thing to ask him about and tell him its killing me knowing they're sitting in the system somewhere and that im just sick of being fobbed off.

My fear of doctors is totally justified in my opinion, and not just because of how my own problems have been dealt with. Im a carer for my gran and thank god she has me. The NHS have never got anything right for her either. I cry when i think of old and vulnerable ppl who dont have anyone to help like she does. The stays she's had in hospital were disgraceful and traumatising because the wards were short-staffed, staff have been very rude or told her "Youre bones are like mush" and "dont fall, because we dont want you coming here with bits of metal sticking out of your arm... thats what'll happen!", an important medication was missed for 10 years, an ambulance refused to come out for her when she broke her arm and couldnt move with the pain, they've put the wrong prosthesis in her arm (causing 3 extra ops), she goes to appointments that apparently dont exist (very stressful when youre almost housebound), then sits in the house waiting for the district nurse to take blood, who has never (and i mean never, in 2 years) turned up until weve told them they were supposed to. Im in total despair about what the government has done to our NHS! I mean honestly, how can privatisation possibly ever, ever save money?! And that bloody computer system! x
