Iron Levels - whats normal?

i get confused by iron levels, when i had my daughter my iron level before birth was 9 and when i had her i bled alot but before i left hospital i didnt have a blood test to check my iron level yet everyone else had one. this time im 12 and midwife said thats fine . x
