Hi ladies!

Sorry I've not logged on sooner, DH is supposed to be off today but has been called into work so thought I'd nab the opportunity to log on and update.

Appointment went really well, we didn't get to see the consultant, he was there but busy so we saw his registrar who was lovely, helpful and seemed to be really keen to get cracking.

I was really surprised when he asked me to drop my clothes so he could do an internal exam to check my womb/cervix using a speculum. He said everything looked fine.

DH has to give 2 semen samples, within a month of each other, just to check everything's fine with him. Really pleased with that, DH is understandably a bit nervous!

The doctor checked my scan pictures that the crappy GP sent off for, he said there ARE a few follicles on my ovaries but nothing that stands out as definite PCOS, he would expect 25% of women who have these scans to have the same results/pictures as what I have, so not standing out as anything really.

He's requested a whole new load of blood tests to check FSH, LH, Oestadiol, free androgen index and prolactin as well as rubella immunity(?).

I've been booked in for a hy cosy, we're just waiting for a letter with the appointment date.

Phewww... I think that's everything so far.

Oh yeah, my BMI is too high at 30, I weigh 80kg and am 5ft4-5 so defo need to lose weight.

No mention was made about Metformin or Clomid and to be honest, I had totally forgotten to even ask.

I don't think we'll be getting anything til we've got our results back from all our tests. I feel a bit overwhelmed with everything, like I knew what would happen but when you're hearing it and being booked in and even having the internal exam... My mind was swimming with stuff and I found myself at one point just a bit lost and I had to remind myself that we're doing this because we want a little bean.

Hope that doesn't sound OTT. :oooo:

Sorry for the long rambly post!!

If anyone's had a hy cosy, please feel free to give your experience, I have an idea of what to expect though. :)

me too missj, at least we have christmas to distract us. feel like i'm wishing my life away tbh! at least we're not alone :friends:

Thanks ladies. :) x

Nurse - Yep, seems that way! I was pleased with how quickly the tests were given to us, especially as we didn't even see the consultant himself - I wasn't expecting a lot when we were told we were seeing his registrar instead. x

I've told DH we should enjoy this Christmas as much as we can because it could possibly be our last Christmas just the two of us, hopefully next Christmas we'll either be pregnant or waiting to pop! :yay:

I had a hycosy in December last year.

Very uncomfortable so take painkillers and a sanitary pad with u. I bled straight afterwards and had to go to the loo as soon as I left the room.

They put a catheter up into ur uterus and flush dye through and then do an internal scan to see the flow of the dye. The scan isn't uncomfortable at all, but I had a very very sharp scratch on my cervix as they inserted the catheter. Nearly fell off the bed cos I jumped so much.

It is not a very pleasant experience but necessary. there were 3 women in the room. A consultant and 2 nurses. They two nurses did the scanning and due, consultant just watched (well, until the news doin the scan scored she couldn't see my left tube so she took over and did not give a monkeys about me, just finding my left tube :()

Wear something loose and have ur DH get u a hot water bottle as soon as u get home.

Sorry to be so blunt but best be prepared xxx fingers crossed for u xxxx

sorry i'm slow to catch up MissJ, really glad your appointment went well. I agree with you about relaxing and enjoying christmas, next year hopefully you'll be changing nappies and being sleep deprived, woop! I had my hyscosy a couple of weeks ago and it was really painful when the dye went through my tubes but just like really intense period cramps and it doesn't last long. I was really bloated for a good 12 hours afterwards too. But other than that it's not too bad, and a good feeling to know that your tubes are all clear. xxx

Hope you get some answers soon or like larly just fall naturally :) good luck Hun still following your progress. When you get a bfp it's going to so special xx

Glad to hear your first appointment went well MissJ, we had ours a couple of weeks ago and were told we need to have all the same tests as you and your DH.
Thankfully I wasn't told to drop my clothes for an internal scan there and then ;) although I was thinking it was going to happen.

Hope you don't wait too long for your Hycosy, I have to ring up and book mine and the first day of my next cycle so just awaiting that now. I've asked a few people I know who've had fertility investigations about the Hycosy and none of them have had one, they all had a HSG which is apprently very simular but with the Hycosy they use saline instead of dye and Ultrasound rather than Xray.

Hope this is the start of getting answers and by this time next year you have a precious little baby or at least about to give birth to one x
