I have ordered mime after reading all the good comments on here!

I listened again last night and have just ordered the book too, I'm really pleased with it so far. I think you just need to listen by yourself and without distractions at first, that's probably part of the reason why I couldn't concentrate on the one my SIL lent me and the America voice too!

awww Sarah I am sure your OH will realise that calm you means clam baby...if not just remind him that you are not responsible for your actions while pregnant and he should fear for his safetly if he dares to take the piss! By the way it's the first time I have not been on my phone and I can actually see your signature - baby goth is such a cute term!!!

Bunnykins - I used t listen to it furing the day but I always fell asleep to it at night lol I purposely put it on my ipod as I found I had the best nights sleep going to sleep listening to it! Oh used the come to bed and try and untangle me without waking me lol The book was a great help for OH with triggers etc he read it twice bless him.

Poppypd - good luck with your cd hun! Hope you enjoy it although as you have read it takes a while to get into!

What cd are you girls listening to? Is it just the relaxation in pregnancy? or did you get the birth prep one for 32 weeks? I had the 4cd boxset which included both of the above and a birth music cd (which is the same music you have been listening to without any talking) and a post natal one - if I am honest my birth was so quick that I never got to listen to the birth music one (they blamed me being relaxed for my quick birth) and I was so busy and knackered in the weeks afterwards that the post natal one is still sealed too lol

He better not make me laugh or take the piss lol! I've got the one from 32 weeks and now ordered the birth music, was thinking about the whole set but thought I may not end up using them all. Your right about the good nights sleep! It's reassuring to hear it worked for you. Oh, it was my friends that nick named the baby 'Baby Goth' as Im a bit of an aged goth now, still wear all black and DMs but not like i did in my teens lol! They are convinced this baby will be dressed in all black, it won't be though, and by my dates it is due on Halloween, would be an appropriate birthday!

I am a gown up goth apparently lol However I never label myself I just like black and quirky things! So jealous of your due date lol Halloween is my fav holiday!

How are you getting on with the book? Find it useful?

I only got the book today so not started reading it yet but had a quick flick through, looks interesting. I re-read your birth story again today, hope it works as well for me too, I'm confident it will help as I had quite an easy quick birth with my daughter, but that was 14 1/2 years ago now so not sure if that counts anymore!

I have now listened to my cd a couple times, it does say not at night when you are going to bed but thats when I did it. Haven't got to the end without falling asleep yet. 2nd time my OH listened to it, but he couldn't sleep to it so will listen on my own now. I think it's gonna help, do feel less anxious about the birth from the things it points out - it makes sense.

I've listened about 5 times now both in day and at night and fell asleep everytime! funny thing is though as she counts you back awake at the end I always wake up so maybe I'm not asleep! Just started the book that goes with the cd as well.

Sams girl it's called natal hypnotherapy, got it for about £11 for just the 1 cd, effective birth preparation it's called. Obviously I have a long way to go with it still, but it's pointed out some good things already. xx

Glad that some other girls are using this.......didn't put my hand up at antenatal when the midwife asked if anyone was using hypnotherapy as nobody else did and I felt really silly! ....Don't know why?! Guess I didn't want to be 'judged' for using something a bit 'different'.
I have the 4cd set which I got off ebay for about £20......I find the prep for birth cd really helpful and reassuring.....it makes me feel much more trustworthy that my body knows what it's doing and that I need to try and stay relaxed, however things go to help it all move along naturally!.......Do u think it would still help if u end up being induced? I really want to avoid that if at all poss!

Yeah I still think it will help as it mentions about 'where ever and when ever you give birth' in parts of the cd. I also think it might reduce the amount of women who are induced as you need to be relaxed etc to go into labour naturally and that's why lots of women are induced as they get so stressed at the end and focus everything onto one day instead of thinking 'sometime in the next few weeks' and being open minded about baby coming when it's ready. Bet you were bidding against me on eBay! I gave up in the end as I lost out so often and just got it new!

lol! Sorry if I was........well, we will all have to compare our birth stories afterwards and c how we got on with it!......Definately gonna try to be open minded about when he comes and let body do it's thing!

The open minded bit is hard, I was ok about the he'll come when he wants to part until I hit 38/39 weeks now I'm guilty of getting impatient!! I'm not stressing about it as such but I'm not as calm as the hypnobirthing says I should be as I just really want to get on with it and meet him :)
In a funny way I blame the hypnobirthing on my impatience because I'm so looking forward to labour now and intrigued as to how it will all pan out using the relaxation techniques that I just want to get on with it!!

Could be anytime now though bunnykins! Just look at it as 2 weeks at the most now!

Everyday hubby comes home with such a hopeful look on his face convinced that today will be the day! I personally think it might be Monday I don't know why just have a feeling, would love a due date baby though!!!!

Just got back from my hols today to find my hypotherapy book and cds waiting for me at the post office. Really looking forward to having a listen and read later. I'm normally very cynical about anything remotely 'alternative' but I think I need to open my mind a bit and avoiding pain is a pretty good reason to try anything.

Me and oh were sceptical and went in with the attitude of it couldn't do any damage to try, if it didn't work it won't cause any harm but if it did work then it would be great! We are now fully convinced it was the right decision to do it! Obviously will be able to update on the results in the next few days hopefully :)
I've tried convincing my family but they are having none of it so I've had to insist they don't discuss the birth with me as they keep saying oh you'll be in so much pain and you'll definately have to have pain relief, and the best one from my mum was make sure you don't piss the midwife off as she might not like you being all hypnotized and get annoyed at you, make sure you do what she says!!!!! erm I couldn't care less about the mw, its my body, my labour and I'll do it how I bloody well like!!!! You've got to have a thick skin and ignore all the negativity well meaning people direct at you!!!

Be interesting to hear your birth story bunnykins, I've not had much negativity about it but everyone knows I always do things differently and my way so they probably don't even bother to question me now! I think midwives are really getting into the whole hypnobirthing thing, they seem quite interested and encouraging so I don't think they will get mad with you lol!

Yeh I'll make sure I write up a proper birth story to let you know how it goes!!! I agree about the mw, most I've spoke to have been really open to it or at the very least intrigued, at the end of the day if it works it will make their job easier! It's just my family who have strange opinions, even when I say don't say anything negative they still do because they don't understand!!! I've got very good at shutting my ears to it or leaving the room!! Luckily hubby is 100% on board and he's the one with me through the labour so its all good!!! I just don't understand why people need to still keep trying to tell me how scary and painful it WILL be even after I tell them the principles of the hypnobirthing, its like they take some pleasure in trying to undermine it instead of just supporting me, not sure what the gain is for them! It's a good job I have a thick skin and am committed to the hb principles so I can brush it aside as nonsense lol!!!!!
