How many babygrow's / vests etc do you need for a newborn?

Any I got as gifts were bigger sizes cause everyone assume.the would be sorted for 0-3 months, which we were. I would say 12 of each. Bihar six of each in newborn size but she was out of them in two weeks, I wouldn't get many newborn size as they have a short lifespan!

Ladies, a first time mummy in need here!

I'm buying a pack of 4 vests from next in bog standard white for £8, the sizes are up to 1 mths, up to 3mths, then the usual sizing 3-6, 6-9 etc.

What size should I get for newborn? I've got a few vests and sleep suits in "up to 3 months" but I guess I'll be needing something small for the fist few weeks. I'm reluctant to go wild on clothes as I know they don't hang around for long.

Should I just get up to 1mth? As I've already got bits up to 3 mths?

Sorry to be rambling on, I'm worrying about nothing I suppose! I just feel like I've got nothing. :wall2:

As others have said a lot depends on the baby. Some newborns poo 6 times a day, with frequent leaky nappies. Some have reflux and sick up on themselves constanltly. Others only need changed once a day. LO had days I only changed her once and days I got through about 5 lots of clothes. I only had about 6 changes of newborn clothes and mostly it was enough but some days I had to do washing especially or dress her in clothes that were a bit big which wasn't the end of the world. This time I plan to have a bit more because I'll have a baby and toddler so don't want it to matter if I don't get around to washing that day. Also I've been collecting bits on sale/promotion that are really cheep so haven't spent a lot.

Some babies will outgrow newborn size in just a week or so so you don't want to go too overboard.
