Hi ladies,
I'm trying to reintroduce a bottle into Madison's feeds.
She's had formula before no problem and fed happily from Tommee Tippie bottles. However she now won't take either, I've tried a Mam bottle tonight and have avent to try as well. I really don't want to spend more money on more bottles.
How can I reintroduce the bottle to her? She just screams until she gets the boobie!
I've tried feeding her ebm from the bottle with no luck either
xx

How long has it been going on hun? Have you tried half a boobie feed first so she isn't frustrated? My friend just went through this with her LO and it was just a phase so keep trying xx

I have been through this battle and have just come out the other side.

I have spent a fortune on different bottles and the one that works for us is the breastflow bottle.

It has been sheer perseverance but what we found was if she was hungry enough she would take the bottle. First feed of the day or after a long nap. Once she took one daytime feed we then used the bottle to dream feed.

For the last couple of weeks I have been cutting down the boob as I am moving onto formula. I tend to find if she's sat up facing away from me looking around at the tv or her sister I can get the bottle into her mouth and before she realises what she's doing she's sucking away.

Just keep trying, eventually you will crack it. Just pick your moment xx

Sally tried a few times in the past 2 weeks. I just think she is now too used to the boobie and can't be bothered to work for the milk from a bottle?
I'm going to try again tomorrow when she's not tired or super hungry, I expressed a few ounces off tonight so I can get her used to it again and not waste milk.

I'm meant to be going out to the cinema on Monday but unless she takes from the bottle it won't happen. That sounds really selfish of me!

Rhino what brand of bottle is it you use? I seen the medela one that is most like the sucking action used when bf.

Xx

I use the medela calms bottle with Molly, once per day. She still prefers feeding from me, but she will take the bottle without too much problem. Make sure we you give it to her regularly, so it just becomes a normal part of the routine. :)

Thanks nicnac, tried today, she opened her mouth for it had a few sucks and spat it out. I'm going to try again later. I'm only filling it up with 2oz at a time
so that I'm not wasting milk.
Ill keep at the MAM bottle for now and if I get no luck ill try another one ;)
Maybe invest in the medela one if I've had no luck by the end of the week x

The bottle we use is called Breastflow. I got them from Amazon x

I went through this for months. LO took bottles from 4 weeks and then at 4 months refused. I had been using TT bottles. Tried cups and this is what I was using, still with a battle but I had to get him to take something to persevered. When I went to work Christmas party I left him with my sister and wouldn't entertain the cup. She sterilised my nuk bottle with latex teat and he downed it. Result :-) I kept giving him nuk bottle with ebm and gradually weaned him to formula and then to TT bottles. He now takes 3 bottles a day with no bother and I still bf first and last feeds which are essentially 5 mins and I know he'll eventually drop himself when he starts sleeping longer.
Hope u get sorted soon. I totally understand how frustrating it is x
