For all you previous TTCers who are now preggers :cheer: i wanna know how you did it, did you do anything different?

I was thinking last night, I know i dont come on her much and i dont reply much as i only come on when i am at work but i though when i eventually get my BFP I want you girls on here to be one of the first to know.

I'd also tell you all how i did it, what i did different so maybe you could all try it. (i know maybe it doesn't work like that, cos we are all different).

As you can guess i've not worked out what it is :rotfl:

So come on girls HOW DID YOU DO IT? :D

you might get better answers in first tri hun - soon as we are all still ttc and the ttcers who have got PG have mostly moved over there

It took me 6 months to conceive. I was using OPKs from the very start as i wanted to get pregnant as quickly as possible. I was starting to get worried as my partner and i are only 25 and fit and healthy and so i expected to fall pregnant straight away.

I can honestly sympathise with everyone who is ttc coz it was a stressful time for me.

I decided to join a keep fit class to take my mind off things and de-stress and it was that month (4 weeks after i joined) that i finally conceived. In fact i was in the middle of the class one day when i thought AF was going to arrive there and then (although it would have been a week early) coz i got these really bad cramps (the type i get just before AF but slightly worse). I was so shocked when it didn't arrive the following week and when i did a hpt it revealed i was pregnant.

I guess what i am trying to say is that i think everyone expects that when they want to get pregnant they just will. I was sick ofhearing drs saying that it can take up to a year to conceive and the average is 6 months. But it is a game of chance. I believe that when it's meant to be it will be.

OPKs were a good indicator to me though.

Good Luck to all TTCers xx

1st time i got pregnant we had planned in advance as the time for our wedding was coming up

so the plan went 'may' start folic acid, end of august/sept start ttc, wedding in decmber. af came early in august and as i had long cycles usually- i just thought it would take me a year to get pregnant so we thought wed start straight away- and straight away pregnant. was a bit shocked as would of been 17weeks at the wedding which was a bit later than ideal- but was so happy our baby would be at our wedding. unfortunately we lost the baby. at that time all we did was have sex everyday thruout the time i had ewcm.

this time iv done the same and nothing... my tip is to tempt sods law with making u look fat on ur wedding day and not fitting in the dress. im almost tempted to threaten to get married again then maybe my luck will change!!

I took me 11 months. I was charting my temps the whole time so could see when I was ovulating. I fell pregnant first time on month 3 we used pre-seed and made sure we did lots of BDing while I was exhibiting fertile fluid. That baby m/c'd at 7 weeks and during the next 6 months I had 2 chemical pregnancies. I started to wonder if the dips in my temperature charts were meaning anything and discovered they were a sign of low progesterone after ovulation. I had some tests done and it turned out my progesterone levels were too low to maintain a pregnancy. I went to a specialist as my Doc was crap and she prescribed me with progesterone pessaries which i had to put in after ovulation and the first onth on them I got pregnant :cheer:

I highly recommend charting your temps as they tell you all sorts of things.

Good luck and I hope it happens quicker for you then it did for me.

thanx for posting that becs coz its seems i got a prob with my progestrone, so its nice to kno that there is help out there :)

back to the post, my first pregnancy i wasnt trying and caught within 4 months, but we were constantly havin sex. our second id been tryin for 13 months with pcos and caught when i least expected no tempin, chartin etc, but unfortunalty ended in m/c, so still ttc.

hi Kelly.
I am ttc with my second after taking quite a while with my first who is 5 now. It can be really frustrating. My only advice is to try not to expect a BFP to make you more relaxed or give yourself a timescale to conceive....say chunks of 2 or 3 months. My bet is that you will fall pregnant quite easily....age is on your side here. Try taking a TTC supplement to ensure that all your mineral levels are good.
I hope its good news for you soon.

Thanks to you all who replied, it just gives us TTCers a bit more hope, we'll hang in there our day will come.

I was ttc for 9 months in total and i got my bfp the month I went to the docs!!

I started off just 'taking things as they come' and after a few months of getting bfn's every time I started with OPK's and eventually charting my temps.

Temp charting was the most helpful and it gave me a much better idea of when to do the OPk's and I knew if I was timing things right. It was also a good thing to show the doc when we went so that they could see we were doing everyting right too. Each month we'd made sure we BD's a lot around the time of OV but still nothing was happening.

We saw the doc at the beginning of my last cycle and they asked me to have two bood tests (CD 3 - 5 and another at CD21) and they reffered me to a hospital for DH to give a sample. To be honest that month we took things pretty easy, we only BD'd twice in the fertile days (as opposed to 5 -6 normally) and we just didn't really pay much attention to anything. I knew that if I was going to have tests that they would mention my weight so I started Weight watchers and started some excersize too and I was eating really healtyly.

For me I think that a combination of us seeing the doc and not feeling as under pressure, our excersizing and eating more healty and, strange as it may sound, not BDing as much helped us get pg.

I'm sure that because we were BDing 5 - 6 times over my fertile time that DH's samples were getting feeble by the time the egg came and this month we only did it twice so they were good healthy swimmers each time made the difference.

we were TTC for approx 10 months, think it worked out 8 cycles through as some were mega long others were shorter!

on the month we fell this is what we did, dont know what helped or if it was a combination:

*OH stopped smoking 3 months ago
*OH took zinc and vitamin C
*i took pregnacare
*i took the magic medicine up until i ovulated
*used OPK's
*BD'd every 2nd night from CD 8 and 3 nights after my positive OPK but think that 3 nights was more like 5 (i should of guessed then i was preggers, not like me at all :rotfl: )
* lay with my bum under a pillow for as long as possible (bout half an hour)

think thats about it, if i have missed anything il let you know!

GOOD LUCK

Hi,

I used opks with both my first child and whilst TTC with this pregnancy. I also charted my temp, it helps to identify any possible problems and can pin point the day when you ovulate.

I cut back on the glasses of vino and tried to eat extra healthily.

I also lay still for at least 20 minutes after BD'ing, it's supposed to help the little swimmers get to where they need to be :D

The one thing I did differently the month I got my BFP was to use pre-seed! I definitely recommend it!!

Good luck, I really hope you get your BFP soon.

We were TTC for 3 months when I got BFP. I used OPK and BBT for the first time when I conceived. Also read Taking Charge Of Your Fertility cover to cover about 3 times!!!
Good luck for your BFP soon........ hope this helps!!!! :D

Hi Kelly!

This is a good idea. OK, here is everything I did.

- I used the ivillage.com fertility planner, but did not do the whole CM analysis, or temperature readings. Just basically noting down various parts of your cycle. Very easy.

- As soon as AF was finished, we would BD every second day, or every 36 hours, as I was sure I was ovulating early. As it happens, I wasnt, but it cant hurt to start BDing right after AF, say CD07 OR CD08 until CD20 or CD21, every 36 hours.

- Dont laugh, but I actually did yoga-style upsidedown stands after BD sometimes... :rotfl: This was kind of in a joking manner, but maybe it did the trick! (if nothing else, it gives you a giggle)

I hope this helps. Thats all I can think of for now. Best of luck!!!

Ani
