How are all you new mummies doing?

I had several days of injections after my emergency c section. Stayed in hospital for 5 days due to dd health so only had to do 2 at home. I'm still not driving as just coming up for 5 weeks and was told Dr had to ok u at 6 week appointment. U should check with it insurance when u can drive, was advised this at hospital as u may not be covered until Dr gives u go ahead. Midwife told me some companies won't cover until 12 weeks after which I think is OTT.

Pretty awful! ! My nearly 3 year old has had a bad stomachbug and was sick for 5 says in a row and is just getting better. My c section wound is infected and on antibiotics. Im feeling like poop after my blood loss, my iron count hasnt gone up any and all the midwives, health visitor and gp aaid I should have got a blood transfusion after my 2.2ltr blood loss lol I wish I had, feel I would have more energy etc

Callie my beautiful daughter is perfect lol just doesnt sleep as much as my son did, that I remember and she hasnt got the hang of being awake and not crying :) seems to be quite unsettled in general, shes sleeping just now, but I cant sleep lol her first deep sleep of the day, unless shes lying on me! Hubby is back at work for 2 days the off for another 2. Lol it will get easier! :)

Omg! Have you got someone to help you? You must feel extra awful with the blood loss! I lost just over a litre with my first delivery, and I was supposed to have a transfusion (which they forgot to do!), so I definitely think you should have!

Hope things start to get better for you soon.

The injections must be standard practice after an emergency section. I don't think I would be able to cope with injecting myself! :-/

I rang my insurance company about driving after section, and they said as soon as GP said ok it was fine. Went to gp 2 weeks and 1 day after Emma was born and he gave me the ok. They just check you aren't wincing in pain so you can do an emergency stop if required.

The injections weren't great but my hubby is an insulin dependant diabetic so has to inject at least twice a day. I figured I had to man up and stop angleing for him to do it.

Surprisingly it was pretty ok. Worst part was taking the rubber caps off the needles, stabbed myself in the finger twice by accident and that really hurt lol

I think I'd go mad if I couldn't drive for 12 weeks

Sounds like you really needed that blood, hope your feeling better now. Don't think beroca will have the same impact!

I'm really tired too. I don't remember this with my last two kids. I'm having a weekly melt down though. Husband walks in the door, I burst in to tears, he then does the night feed and I feel so much better. I just wish Emma would sleep long enough in the day for me to nap.

Me & Amelia are great apart from.a hospital trip yesterday, she was projectile vomiting etc, turns out she'd caught my sickness bug!!

Snap! Apparently it gets better by about 6 weeks when they should start sleeping for longer during the nights.

For anyone who cares: the perfect prep machine is by far the best £65 we spent! I'd happily pay full price for it!! xx

I seem to be more tired now than to start! Think all my adrenaline has gone. Thomas slept from 11.30 to 5.30 last night, problem is it's not in his crib it's on me so I can only doze

My sons class has the sickness bug doing the rounds. I'm dreading getting it :-/ you both ok now?

Yip same, it's the adrenaline and excitement of having a new baby wearing off.

I don't know how you're managing with Thomas sleeping on you. No doubt you've tried everything, but I've found putting Emma on a pillow so she's not lying flat, then I snuggle up close so she knows I'm there, then transfer her to crib when she's sleeping deeper. That's if I don't pass out myself!

I'm just getting fed up with my body lol it's just not fighting the infection, my immune system is sh*t just now, can't wait until I'm better to get back to normal and be able to drive and go out walks etc. had to go to adoc today, got given a second set of antibiotics so taking 2 at once, hoping it will heal it.

I've got help, my husband is here, he called in sick last night as I'm not fit to look after them both by myself, just keep thinking it will get better lol blinking c section!!! Grrr ;)

Hi Michelle,

I can't believe Harry is 9 weeks already! The weeks are certainly flying by! I'm crossing my fingers Emma sleeps through sooner rather than later. I've had one child sleep through from 7 weeks, and the other didn't sleep through till she was 3 years old! Won't be able to cope with that again!lol

Hi ladies, it's my first time posting in the baby & toddler section, seems really weird lol

Elijah is now 12 days old and we are doing ok, i really don't remember a thing from my first who is now 19 years old so i really do feel like a first time mum. Elijah is just gorgeous we are completely besotted with him. he feeds well and had gained 6oz by day 6 but he has tongue tie so he can't latch on properly and my nipples are suffering as a result, they are completely red raw and at one point were bleeding. it also explains the long lengthy 1-2 hour feeds that he's been having as he has to work that little bit harder to get the milk out. we've seen a lactation consultant now and she has given me so 'nipple plasters' as she called them which are helping them heal and helped me position him differently on my breast so that it doesn't hurt as much. he is having a tongue tie division on monday which is a quick and painless procedure to separate the tongue and will dramatically improve the feeding. He sleeps really well and goes down around 11pm and sleeps through to around 4, i had to wake him this morning as he was going on 6 hours of sleep and i was concerned he needed to feed.

I'm doing ok, still recovering from my c section, i'm finding it hard to not do much. my midwife has said i'm not allowed to drive for around 6 weeks as most insurance companies don't insure you after major surgery. i checked with the insurers and sure enough i'm not insured to drive for the first 6 weeks. i haven't left the house yet but tomorrow we are going to take a walk to the shops. i've been moving alot around the house though and the midwife took the dressing off and she said that the wound is healing nicely.

I am absolutely loving being a mum again though and can't even remember a time that he wasn't here.

so annoyed with my doctors surgery yesterday. phoned up a couple of weeks ago to book a 6 week appt for me and baby to be told dont worry you'll get a letter nearer the time. thought it was getting abit close and still hadnt heard anything so i phoned up yesterday to check only to be told it'll be somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks, i'm on the waiting list!!

said i wanted to see a gp asap so i can confirm with my insurers that im fine to drive, only to be told you'll have to wait for the baby appt. to come through. politely told them to do one as im not potentially waiting another 2 to 3 weeks and managed to force them to give me an appointment, although nearest one i could get was over a week away.

really starting to hate the receptionists at my surgery.

When I saw gp at 2 weeks, he said not to bother making baby check appt till 8 weeks as if I went at 6 weeks I'd have to come back at 8 anyway. So don't worry about baby check being put off. I'd be pee's off about the driving bit though! Maybe check with your insurer about their policy wording. Mine was along the lines of wait 6 weeks or if gp says earlier.

I have a 20 day old with collic AND insomnia. Joy lol when he's not crying he's wide awake!! I've just given in at 5:30 and put him in his baby rocker do j can try and sleep - he just doesn't want to be flat right now.
