I’ve heard that pregnant women shouldn’t have hot baths is this true? I’m really achy and feel like a bath would help but I only like hot baths. I hate just warm baths and normally have it as hot as possible! What have you all been doing?

Also, if a hot bath is bad why is this? I also have my showers really hot and have still had hot showers since being pregnant!

From what I have read and heard, it is true. I think it's something to do with the increased body temperature can lower your blood pressure, and thereby cause complications with the baby. Hopefully remembering wrong though!

I think it's the same with showers, but I guess most people wouldn't spend ages in the shower so the chance of it really affecting your body temperature is probably quite low.

Ah ok maybe il just have a slightly cooler bath than I normally would and if it seems quite hot then get out quicker than usual! After a hot shower I don’t feel dizzy or anything like that but probably cause don’t really have that long showers!

Exactly, I think as long as you're careful you will be fine. Enjoy your bath! x

It’s to do with raising your body temperature above a certain level which can be potentially harmful, it’s the same reason they say to avoid hot tubs or saunas. I’m sure some people don’t worry about it and are perfectly fine but I have been keeping my baths to 37 degrees as recommended just to be on the safe side. Like you I used to love scorching hot baths (where I’d come out looking like a lobster) but I’m getting used to just warm ones now xx

Baths are fine, just not hot ones. A hot bath increases your core body temp, if it gets too high it can cause hypothermia, and some studies have said that overheating can cause birth defects (mainly in the first tri when organs develop).

I'm looking forward to my LUSH order arriving and having a good ole (warm) bath! haha Xx

I think it’s a case of not wanting the sort of bath which is so hot that it makes your skin go red... or makes you sweat whilst you sit in it!
