what to do? marleys got so excited about being able to crawl that today he has hit his record crawling speed. in our living area we have hard floor and a big rug. hed crawled off the rug and on the hard floor and i saw it coming but by the time i leaped off the couch it had happened. he literally skid and banged his mouth full on, on the hard floor =( never heard him cry like that, his mouth is bright red. hes been sucking on a teething ring from the fridge, and iv put a cold flannel on his head as he was so hot and bothered. my mum said to give some calpol later if hes still fever-ish. my worry was about his teeth??? will they be ok? ive never heard a bang so loud =( im worried hes damaged them or something? please tell me im worrying for nothing?! this being a mum thing is really hard, according to my mum hes gunna hurt himself alot more in the future as he learns to walk crawl etc etc. =((( hes perfectly fine now in his walker but im worried to put him on the floor to crawl =(

Awww poor Marley! Do his teeth look ok? If so id try not to worry too much. Just keep an eye on him but I'm sure he is fine, kids are made of tough stuff! Zac has had loads of bumps to the mouth and head, you try so hard to keep them safe but it's so easy for them to just fall the wrong way.

Yay for crawling though! X

thanks hun. well he hasnt got any top teeth lol. just the 2 bottom ones are poking up a bit. the bottom of his nose and his mouth area looks a bit swollen and red and hes sucking away on that cold teething ring. i have one of those jigsaw foam mats for him to play on too but it doesnt cover the whole floor area.

im sure he's gunna do it loads and loads in the future too. argh. oh just informed me he hit his head with a playstation joypad yesterday too but he didnt tell me till now!!!!! men!

Plenty of bumps to come, I think it bothers us more than them! He will get used to crawling on the floor, maybe take his pants and socks off so he doesn't slip so much.

he'll be fine and sooo many bumps to come! It's bloody scary though isN'T it? We had our first big bump last month, he was standing up at the coffee table (tried everything but there's no way I can stop it, he heads for it all the time) and even though was right there behind him he slipped and banged both front teeth on it oh the amount of blood! i cried a lot! luckily oh was here too so calmed him (and me) down! 10 mins later was fine. He now has massive bruise on his forehead - where guess what-he hit the coffee table! but this time he is pratising leaning on coffee table then turning to sofa and vice versa but misjudged it! I felt sooooooo bad. (ok also cos this was 2nd head bump in as many days) but after 5 mins he is fine.

we have Owen proofed the house as much as poss but some things you can't can you?? Hopefully Marley will learn to slow down a bit on the wooden part?! But how CUTE is it when they crawl fast?! Owen's like a spider and we like to call him spider pig! (not really sure why lol!)

aww noooo porr baby i would have shit myself if there was blood!!!! =((( oh god!!!! im not looking forward to the bumps to come!!! he always crawls under the tv too which scares the hell out of me.

so cute youre right when they crawl fast he like huffs and puffs and gets dead excited!!! i might post a thread about baby proofing the flat cos i literally have no idea =( eeeek. the other day he was in the kitchen opening draws and pulling takeaway menus out!!!!!

When I was a toddler my friend pushed me and I smacked my mouth on the loo as I fell and all my teeth went black All my big girl teeth came through fine though!!

the ones are through are so barely through if you get me... just 2 little white things poking out the gums! they look fine. the ones on the top... well... no sign of them yet!!!!!

Sure that if he hit them badley he would have cut the inside of mouth / lip, so should be fine.
I don't think there is much you can do to baby proof the wooden floor, you could get totes toastie type rubber grippy socks, or get those cruiser shoes from clarks , they might help even on the toe side of shoes when crawling rather than standing.

Re the mentions of coffee table bumps in the replys - I think I will stick and tape on bubblewrap all round the edges of my large coffee table rather than get rid of it as I really like it after years of not having one because of kids. Just think it won't be long and he will be climbing on it, instead of bumping into it....

Oh had joshua on his knee whilt eating lunch at a picnic table yesterday and joshua LUNGED forward and caught his nose. Led to his first bloody nosr felt horrendous but just had to remembR accidents and always will happen!!!worry not im sure everything will be fine!!!!!!!!!! X
