Help! Is this a positive?

Hi,

I am looking for some help. I’ve had two months where my test looked like this, yet still not pregnant (4 months trying in total, but only 2 using this brand of test. It says the test line should be as dark or darker than reference line... I can’t tell here, they look very close but I wouldn’t say one is darker. The brand is first response. Please help! Thank you!!

Ps. Sorry for the black marker. I have unique floors and work does not know I’m TTC!

The bottom line is actually the test line, so if it’s lighter I guess that would mean it’s not a positive. I had been using this brand for a couple months and got what I thought were positive 2 of the months although they could be negative... I used the clear blue test with the smiley face last month and I got the static smiley. Now this month, I didn’t test as early as you’re supposed to because I was guessing based on past months, and this month I didn’t get a positive. Now I’m worried I have been ovulating regularly.
