I felt really down yesterday! I really am not looking forward to labour, 1 cause of the pain but 2 my mum wont be at there, she died of cancer 2yrs ago, she was at my other 3 babys and was great and i keep getting upset about it now its getting closer. My husband is a great birthing partner but every girl wants her mum there im dreading it. My mother in law has asked to be there as she hasnt seen any grandchildren born yet so ill have female company but its not the same. Sat here crying as im writing it feel so down x

:hugs: no one will be able to replace your mum, especially at times like that, i can't imagine how hurt you are feeling. Sorry to hear its getting you down, i'm sure she will be watching over you xxx

Sorry to hear that, No-one can ever replace your mother, I'm sure she is watching down on you and will be with you at the birth watching over you.
:hugs:x

aw hun
I cant say I know how you feel but can imagine it. I dont think it matters how old you are, a girl always needs her mum. My mum is 61 and she still has a cry every now and then when talking about her own mum, and she passed away 35 years ago :(

Would it help you at all if you maybe had a little framed picture of her, and you could use it during labour as something to focus on during your contractions? Sorry if that seems like a silly idea x

I dont have photos in the house as i get to upset. She was only 52! Ive got to do it theres no way back even if i cry all the way through labour it might take my mind off the pain! Ha. Im sure there lots of women who dont have there mum here and i should be glad i have my husband. X

completely understand hun
my mum said she really missed having her mum around - she passed away before my mum even met my dad, she was 51 or 52 as well. Such a stupidly young age.
Its great that you will have your OH though.... we were talking the other night about birthing partners and apparently when my mum was having me (Im the eldest) and was in hospital, her waters broke all over the floor of her room.......... my dad picked up her dressing gown and started mopping it up hahahaha!

thought that might give u a little giggle ... hopefully ur OH is a bit more well trained than that ;)

Aahh bless! Thank u it did make me giggle thank u for ur lovely messages, ive just got to feel lucky that babys doing good and she will be there somewhere watching. Xx

Do you have anything of hers that you could poss hold or wear? A necklace or something? Then she is there close to you? :hugs: Hun, I'm sorry you are feeling down.but I'm sure she'll be watching over you.xx
