going mad - arabic names

Does anyone know a reliable site for getting the meanings of arabic names?

I'm really struggling to find the meaning behind Kulsum
I know people with this name tend to have fairly gentle and well to do character but I can't find the actually meaning anywhere

Pah! Ok I don't trust the internet

I checked out the meaning of Usman just to try and see how accurate some sites were

Now go into any Islamic book store and they'll have frames, pens and keyrings with this name on and it will always say something like "origionates from the name Uthman meaning like a lion...this person is blah blah blah"

Well so far online they've told me it means servent of God....which I can assure you I'm pretty certain it doesn't

And it also apparently means 'Bustard' whatever that is

And most of the rest of them can't find it

FWIW English meanings vary also on websites, so you are not alone in finding one site says one thing, another says something else. Often the meanings are close, but not exactly the same.

all the name meaning sites i tried have been consistent (melissa always means honey bee!)

perhaps they are not for usman because the sites are english-speaking and the translation might be difficult? hav u tried arabic-speaking similar sites (if there are any and u speak it?) if not then like t.a.t. says ur best asking an arabic speaker! good luck

Lol the thing is I don't speak more than a few daily used phrases of arabic
I know my alphabet and a few random words like grapes, stock, cow, eyes and nose but that's as far as I've got

Sis Asma if you could find out I would be really thankfull
So far I have managed to find one translation "one with a full face"...which I would take to be fairly pleasent...?

I know it probably originated as Kuthum just as Usman was origionally Uthman...but I think for the sake of an easy life and because it's more popular I was going to use Kulsum
Second name would be Khadija anyway inshallah

If we have a boy I have pretty much decided on Ikram Mehdi Usman = meaning esteem/respect....rightly guided...like a lion
[edit] Although on second thoughts I wonder if Ikram Usman rhymes too much??
