First ultrasound and no baby

So I had my first ultrasound today, I guessed I am around 7-8 weeks however There was no sign of baby when getting checked out. Gestation sac measures in at 12 x 13 x 9 mm and does contain a yolk sac. They are saying they think I am 5 weeks based on the size of the sac, or I have misscarried (had no bleeding or severe cramps though). Just feeling really doubtful, I don't know what to think.. any super woman/guys on here that have any advice? Sure this is just being over exaggerated in my head but would be nice to know what to think 😴😔

Hi Katie, sorry you've had a rough day. If you are indeed 5 weeks as per measurements then it's perfectly normal to only see a yolk sac at this point. With this pg I had a scan at this point (measurements wise) due to bleeding and there was also just a yolk sac. Two weeks later I saw a fetal pole and HB. There is of course always a chance of MC unfortunately and they'll be preparing you for the worst. Fx though you've just got your dates wrong, so don't lose all hope just yet. It's a good sign you have no bleeding. Have you got a re scan booked?x

Hello, I'm really glad to hear that everything did work out okay for you 😊. I am currently waiting for a call from my midwife (tomorrow) and hopefully I will find out then. Unfortunately my period is a wee bit irregular sometimes, and in this case was late before I conceived. Was really shocked as the doctors thought I was at least 6-7 weeks last week. Ah little peanuts driving us crazy haha, thank you for getting back I feel more reassured xx

Hi Katiie, if you are only 5 or so weeks, that is all you should see and sounds perfectly fine. Are you back at all for another scan? In a week or so you should be able to see a little blob which will be baby xx

I had a scan at 6+2 or there about and we could only see a sac, a week later we saw baby and heart beat. It's probably just a bit early. Don't worry x

I was 2 weeks later than expected, it can happen.

I was really ill and my period just didn't come for ages, but I was supposed to be due Oct 3rd, now due Oct 16th, fingers crossed for you

With my first I had a scan at 8 weeks and they dated me at 6weeks, I had irregular periods too and the ultrasound tech said that the dating only works accurately if you can set your watch by your period. So even though your dates say your further a long it's definitely possible for you only to be 5 weeks. Hopefully they'll rescan you Ina week or so and everything will be fine xx

Exactly the same happened with me I thought I was 11 +5 at my 12 week scan but they dated me at 9 +3, I knew the day we'd DTD too which seemed impossible but sometimes you ovulate/implant later than you thought. Fingers crossed for you x
