Nicky luv- Quinn usually feeds for 7-8mins so I wind him check his bum - by fully opening his nappy - jus to wake him up again then usually feeds better on 2nd put to breast x
Currently did 8mins then winding&bum check and now has fed for near 15mins x
Have you tried doing that? Xx
Took me a while yo work out a way to get him to wake enough to have a decent feed at night xx

Currently feeding my little man trying to catch up on how everyones doing. Had a bad evening as i think Alex was cluster feeding he just wanted boob from around 7 till about 11pm. He wouldn't settle on his own and would cry if i put him down. But he did eventually drift off around 11.30-12 and only woke up 30 minutes ago for a feed.

I have to break his latch otherwise he will suck continuously for ages i think the longest was an hour and half. Does anyone else have this problem ?

Like just now he was feeding on my left for around 25 minutes sucking away i broke latch to swap boobs offered him my right one and he wasn't interested. But if i had left him he would of just stayed on my left boob for ages.

Last week I was breast feeding lo at about 3.30am and my husband suddenly turns around and says 'ill take over if you like, you go to sleep.' I told him that I didn't think it was physically possible and he fell asleep instantly.

Men!

Also my oh is from Bristol! Where about did you used to live?xxx

Oh Vicky, if you feel he's sucking but not drinking then he sounds like a baby that just likes the comfort of sucking. Maybe try giving him a dummy to give your nipples a break?
I read somewhere that when they're so small they take in milk for about 10 mins max then fall asleep. So a dummy might help?

There is nothing worse than being propped up in bed feeding when you arecompletely exhausted with proper bone crushing tiredness and those horrid stinging eyes while your husband snores beside you. My husband would willingly get up but he can't feed Eli so no point really.

Eli was awake all morning, feeding for five minutes every hour. I eventually coaxed him to sleep and he has had two proper feeds since then.

His cord finally dropped off.

I was thinking about my labour and birth today, I have a doctor appointment tonorrow with my obgyn and that got me thinking about it all. I can't wait to do it all again, I had the most miserable pregnancy with the hyperemesis but the labour and birth were beautiful. We tried for nearly two years to get pregnant with Eli, I am hoping it doesn't take that long again.

And the hyperemesis, within about 40 minutes ofdelivery that stomach churning nausea and sickness that had been my constant companion since June last year vanished. Just went in the blink of an eye, such a weird feeling, it didn't gradually get better. It just went, my doctor was still there as we were donating our cord blood so placenta stuff took longer than normal and I said to him "I am cured, I really want some spaghetti" what a dolt I am!

Quinn cluster feeds sometimes on evening mw said its cos our hormones are higher at that time thats why they want to feed feed feed xx

Well he slept like a dream not surprised after yesterday evening. Done some research and i think he is cluster feeding to increase my supply and this is mostly done at night.

When did all your white milk come in?

And the million dollar question how long does it take for your nips to stop hurting so bad and toughen up a bit (*)(*)

My white milk came on day four. I remember clearly because he was in the nicu and they had given me a pump expecting it to go from colostrum to milk, my midwife came in to check on me and was thrilled with the milk that was being pumped. My nipples were ok from the start, they told me probably because I hand expressed, then pumped, then latched him on day seven ish so my nipples were broken in gently.

Are you using lansinoh or anything?

OMG it's a tris-ism!!!!! Do you think they know each other, that's the sort of thing he would say as you know!!!

As for the "I'm not asleep" Tris does this all the time when he is snoring REALLY loudly!!!!

Talulah - my hyperemesis went as soon as my waters broke, it was so nice to fancy food and not just feel crap and not want to eat!!!!

I've had a cluster feeding baby, and I'm feeding from a bottle..... He is now snoring..... Like father, like son!!!!!

I need to drag my ass outta bed and pack my bags, then get showered, parents will be here in 2 hours, yaaaaaaaaaay!!!! Also get my wheels back this weekend, 6 week on Sunday since my waters went while posting in the feb babies thread!!!

Hope you all have a good day xxxx

Wow this little pipsqueak is so different to his Brother!!

I'm praying my Moby wrap arrives soon because all he wants to do when he's awake (which is most of the day!) is be held on my shoulder!! If I lay him anywhere (moses basket, swing, bouncy chair) he's yelling at me in minutes!! I can seem him being in wrap from morning until evening just so I can play with Jack and cook/clean etc. Poor Jack's been teething and had a sore throat for the last 4 days and sometimes desperately wants a cuddle and all he gets is a snuggle at the side of me :(

Harry's also very very strong! He can support his own weight already and has superb head control so is always flicking his head about!! Does anyone else have a strong baby?

On a positive note he's taking 2-3oz per feed which is great! :) x

Well been to gp - bp normal :yay: no more labetalol!!!!
Got leaflets on coil and vasectomy x so gotta have serious talks about what we're gona do x coil apparently can make periods heavier, longer an more painful so hoping I can get hubby to have vasectomy since its him who is dead against more children xx

Well we had an awful night!!

She fed every 20 minutes for 6 minutes at a time over 2 hours. Then woke at 2.55 for a Feed then again at 5.30
- since then she's fed every hour and is still going - thinking this is her growth spurt?

I feel guilty for saying this, but we had a good night  he was asleep by 9pm, woke for a feed at 12am and 4.30am and woke this morning at 8.30am. I feel quite rested today.

I need to have a serious chat with OH about contraception. Before Blake we were just using condoms, and I fell pregnant as soon as we stopped using them. For years before that I was on the pill. I've talked about going back on the pill but OH doesn't want me to because it messes with the cycles- but he has also said no more children?! so what would it matter if my cycles get messed up? :eh: I would quite like to have one more in a couple of years time, but OH is dead against as my pregnancy and birth traumatised him.

Nicky- it will get better love, hang on in there x
DW- I hope you can sort things out with your OH and come to a compromise

DW, my OH is from Clevedon, is that anywhere near you?

Sassy! Lol I think men are so foolish. To be fair he was sleep talking but it made me laugh.

Talulah, aren't we meant to be very fertile right now? Fingers crossed you'll conceive straight away!!
Even though I just had a c section and didn't experience labour and it was all a bit traumatizing, I know what you mean! I look back fondly and cannot wait to do it again one day. I'm just praying to god that I conceive straight away!!

Vicky, my milk also came in at around day 4. On day 3 we had her for the first time from nicu and I only had colostrum. The poor thing lost almost a whole lb in a day!!
My nipples took a good 2 weeks to toughen up. They are now completely deformed!

Claire, where did you get your money wrap from? I want to get one too!!

I just took her to be weighed and she's 10lbs exactly! So tubby!
If anyone's wondering if their babies are getting enough from breastfeeding. Don't worry!

Xxx
