~February & March Mummies and Babies~

She does wake up in the night at around 3.30 for another feed. But that was no different from when we put her down at 10pm.

There is a thread in this section called 'newborn help' and a lady called Emamay has explained the B routine which some of us are trying to do. Apparently the earlier a baby goes to bed the longer it will sleep.

Last night OH was meant to help and he did but not properly!!!

Thanks hun I'll go have a look now! I think maybe tho I should be grateful with what I have.. Might try pushing her to bed say 1/2 hour earlier each time and see what happens lol!

Anyone thinking of leaving their los overnight? It's my husbands birthday in a month and sky will be 10 weeks; we are pretty sure we are gonna book a night away (only in next town so 30 mins drive). Sky will be with my parents, but I'm worried! I know that she will be fine but I dunno I feel ridiculous leaving her so early! But Paul and I haven't had an evening together for a while now :-/

I think you have the perfect routine Diane!! I'd love my lo
To sleep through as much as yours does!!

We've been thinking the same about leaving our lo overnight. Our wedding anniversary is coming end of April and part of our package was that on our 1 year anniversary we had a free meal and night there. She'll be 10 weeks around that time but I don't know how I can leave her, Id be thinking about her all night!

After a good night she is feeding every hour again this morning!

Alex is doing the same feeding pretty much every hour during the day but he sleeps better at night woke just the once around 2.45 although it took him an hour and half to get back to sleep.

I would think that after almost 6 weeks my baby would be in some kind of feeding routine but nooooo... waiting for the kettle to boil n cool etc is hard work with a screaming baby when you didn't expect her next feed to be for another hour at least!

Woohoooooo
Alfie stayed in his basket last night! Went down at 1030 Let me put him back down in it the 3 times he woke for feeds then wanted to get up at 930! I'd wait for him to drop off in my arms then put him down, he usually wakes but he didn't! He's was wrapped in my favourite cardigan all night but he can have it if it means he stays in his basket and actually sleeps!

Diane Alfies 6 weeks and is the same but i kept putting it down to him being a bit early just not settling as quick as normal and i thought It was why he was difficult. He is only just getting out of full on scrunching himself up like a newborn like they do inside you. Now he's putting on weight I'm hoping he will get himself into a routine that I try lol I doubt it though! X

Guys how do you make your formula bottles up those of you formula feeding?

Hv said yesterday how we were doing it was fine but called today and said we were doin it all wrong. We are meant to make as go along so any bacteria is killed in hot water from powder. To do this boiling water must be left 30 mins to cool, add powder then cool for lo to drink. All good and well but if lo screaming I don't think waiting 45mins will help her. When out I have been told to take a flask to use same method and bottle of cold water and jug to cool it down. Seriously???

All I wanted was to bf in first place and lo would take to it and made my nipples bleed. So I have expressed for over two weeks but can't keep it up when husband back at work as takes 4-5hours of the day and I can't see I will manage this on my own. I have sobbed over the decision to put lo on formula and now sobbing over making up these bloody bottles.

We were putting cooled water in fridge, heating up and adding powder but as I say now been told we can't do it this way.

What shall I do? Xx:wall2:

Ladies, get yourselves one of these! http://www.babysecurity.co.uk/products/5238/Tommee-Tippee-Bottle-Warmer-Closer-to-Nature.html

I boil the kettle, leave it to cool for 20 mins, then fill the flask. Everytime I need to make a bottle, I have instant correct temp water. I just use the water from the flask to make the bottle up, add the powder and dinner is served. It's a godsend- especially at night, we just keep it in the bedroom with us.

Do you have those Dr Brown bottles? I do and I have the sterilizer thing for them too. All I need to do is wash the bottles in soapy water, put them in this container, put water in it and pop it in the microwave for 6 mins. It's really easy!

I just use a flask so water is always boiling hot xx

tapatalking x

Rachel, sorry I thought you were asking about sterilising. Ignore me!!

Yeah got dr brown bottles but it is making the bottles which is bugging me. So time consuming and if have to make as go and lo is wanting a feed early waiting 30mins for water to cool so can add powder and then having to cool more so right temp to drink is just a ball ache. For years people have made them up ready to go or just had water boiled and ready and waiting in fridge to warm slightly and add powder to and these babies survived! XX

It is a great way to warm bottle DC but according to hv you are not allowed to warm bottles any more. I am so confused! Kind of proves my point.... If it was so bad to warm your bottle up why do so many manufactures sell bottle warmers?!

When we used formula we used SMA Gold which was already made up. You can use them instantly. Would you use those?xxx

I use cow and gate and you can buy these made up in cartons but a very expensive way of doing it. I think they are 69p per carton and prob get two feeds max out of it xx

I boil the kettle wait 30 mins, pour the water into the bottle then add the formula. Out of this boiled water, I also pour some into a regular flask so that for the next feed the water is hot enough to kill the bacteria, then just cool down in a jug. When out I do the same thing with the flask. It is annoying, and I do get 35 mins of a screaming baby sometimes when she unexpectedly needs feeding earlier, but I still do it this way x
