Extreme photographs...... not for the squemish

well yes actualy i just noticed the first pic the placenta is actualy still inside god i hadnt even noticed was drawn to much to the other pici so yes she has just given birth had pics taken then delivered the placenta then had more pics this is crazy x

oh my god seriously i dont wanna go back and look that is foul totally foul i never noticed that!

What made me gag was where the cord was still coming from her foof!! Crazy hippy lady

wow what a reaction! its amazing how we all see things differently.

Looking at them again today, I think I am kinda ok with the first picture, where the cord and placenta are still inside her. But the 2nd one is just a little too gruesome, and there really isnt any need for it to be like that.

I also thought the cord had to be cut as soon as possible after birth?

i thought that too? i wouldnt risk my new baby to have a stupid photo taken im sure thats not hygenic

I believe it is a rather hippy kind of belief that you do not cut the cord and just allow nature to take it's course , something to do with the cord blood going back into baby and not being wasted, but I wasn't allow to do it with baby no 5 as bleeding after multiple births is too higher risk so mw's prefer to just get it out of there quick as possible . xx

I can't say the actual pics offended me, in fact they did kinda ease one worry. I always thought the cord was shorter and had visions of when baby is placed on me, I would feel it tugging inside me cos it wasn't long enough.

It does look posed and artificial, but I think she looks happy. From when I spoke to my midwife weeks ago about cutting the cord they don't do it straight away unless there is a medical need.

I think they are posed too Violet; I think she is clenching the umbilical cord between her legs and the placenta is already delivered.

xx

She might just be a completely attention seeker and everything except her is fake?? Or am I thinking too much into this now?? :/

Holy crap! I was not expecting that! Lol. Know giving birth isn't going to be my most glamorous time but I think I'll have a quick run over with a baby wipe before the cameras come out! xxx

ps noticed you're a 29th September due date too! Xx

This comment had me in stitches!!!:)
As for the pic, can't say I'm loving that too much, its hardly something you'd show off to everyone when announcing the birth, and showing off your photos!! :)

I don't mind the picture, each to their own but this does look too staged for me. I helped a lady give birth in her car two years ago so have seen the cord and placenta before being detached prior to the ambulance arriving and I have to say that was a far more natural image than this slightly staged shot.

What does bother me is that I've just gone from Jayjays 'home baked cookie' thread to this bllleeerrruuughhh - shame I can't ignore warnings! :wall:

Xx

Hmmm, definitely far too staged for me. Not sure about others but i know that on the birth of my daughter my make up and hair definitely did not look that good! Think i would have prefered to see her Looking exhausted and dripping with sweat, which in my experience is much more realistic! Also if My mum ever showed me a picture like this of her having just given birth to me, I think i would be scarred for life, lol! Yes birth is natural and beautiful, but I also believe that it should be a private and personal experience!

perhaps I am the odd here here but I think she looks great. I looked a lot worse to be honoust ;)

Crikey, that's a bit extreme!

I don't understand how, if there's that much blood, she's able to stand up without her legs shaking and looking pale. To be honest she doesn't look like someone who's just that minute given birth. It almost doesn't seem real.

And I agree with what others have said, my eye was drawn straight to all the blood, I didn't even look at the baby.

Each to their own though, It's a personal thing and it must have made her happy to have the pictures taken. And if it is real then fair play to her! I was sweating, pale, puffy and red-eyed when I had just given birth!

it is normal to loose about 500ml of blood amd that looks like a lot. perhaps put some water with red food dye in a pyres cup and spil it (in a place like the bath where you can wash it away) and see how much it is.

I'm an artist, but it has to be said, taking 'artistic' photos was the last thing on my mind when I'd just had my baby.
