So I had another mw appointment today and she still seemed concerned about my fluid levels. Plus baby is lying transverse so she can't get any measurements. She basically said that the unit won't be interested until I'm 36 weeks so I thought I'd slip it in there that I'd originally been offered growth scams as part of my consultant led care. Well, she was straight on the phone, getting me booked in for next week!

I've never had a growth scan before so I don't really know what to expect. Are they looking for potential problems at this point? Or will they literally check her measurements and them send me on my way?

I went in to have a growth scan with Jackson as they thought he was either a really tiny baby or that he had hardly any fluid (my bump was all baby). When I went in they scanned as normal, and advised they thought he would be quite small. He was measuring as like 27weeks and I was actually 31 at that point so I was shitting myself. They asked if I was under consultant care, which I wasnt...

I couldnt really see much because he was already head in there and thats why felt small to touch - they basically just scanned me, says hed be a bit smaller and let me go. He was 7lb 3oz and quite long so dont listen too much to measurements.

Good luck, a good excuse to see bub again - just really close up

Thank you. At least her transverse lie explains why I'm struggling so bloody much this time around

Yeah, they will measure LO's head and belly and fluids and placenta, nothing complicated or scary but very reassuring x

Ah that's good then. They keep inferring that they're concerned she's small as she keeps hiding in there and her movements still feel very light. It'll be great to have my worries settled

I had growth scans with my second pregnancy and found them very reassuring. Like KHTW says, they check baby's measurements, fluid levels and blood flow through the placenta. I had a growth scan at 32 weeks that showed very high fluid levels and they brought forward my c-section by a week, which was a great relief as I really struggled with my massive bump! xx

I think I'm nervous because another section is like my worst nightmare lol

Did you have a planned or emergency section before? Because they're SO different. I opted for a planned section over an induction and it was actually really good. Walked into the operating theatre, chatted with the staff, held OH's hand while they got my son out, held him very soon afterwards and breastfed in the recovery room. Then I went back to the ward and ate my lunch! It was all very civilized!

uh oh, I googled :(

I wanted to see if her position is caused by the excess fluid (it is) and ended up reading about all the horrible things that could be causing the fluid build up. Now I'm terrified. Why did I do that?!

Story of my life! I'm constantly freaking myself out with google. Try to focus on all those people who say they have excess fluid and then it came to nothing! It's more than likely the case :)
