Hi all I'm so sorry I disappeared for a while again, but....
on 06/07/10 I gave birth to my gorgeous daughter Esmé Betsy Darmola-Hayes, at 18:36. She weighed 7lb 5oz and was just under 5 weeks early.
My waters broke at 2.40am and after faffing about we finally got to the hospital at 6.30am they put me on the baby monitor to check everything was alright and I go checked over by a doctor at about 9.30/10am who confirmed my waters had definately broke but I hadn't dilated yet. They wanted to keep me in over 24 hours for observation and less risk of infection to me and baby (well thats what he said).
They finally got me on a ward about 11.30 and my contractions were alot stronger. Breathing and walking was not helping at all. I could not sit or lie down and everytime I went to toilet I had a sudden urge to push. I explained this to the midwives but they convinced I was still not contracting. THey eventually put me on the baby monitor again and said that my contractions didnt look like they were consistent, but after I was insisting the pains were worse they got me a doctor to have a look at me. Glad they did as when he finaly turned up about 3pm and took one look at me he turned round and said Esmé's head was already there.
So straight away I got whisked to a room where I could have my daughter.
About the last five minutes of my labour I needed some assistance as I was to exhausted to push and I couldn't feel all the contractions, so I finally gave birth to my gorgeous daughter with the help of forceps as the vontoues slipped off her head twice so they were unable to use it.
I didnt have any pain relief throughout my labour but unfortunely as I had a third degree tear I had to have a spinal injection when I went into theatre
We were both in hospital for 9 days. The first 3 days was due to her being early, I wasn't well the day after so they kept us in to keep an eye on me and the rest was due to Esmé's sugar levels being low and being very jaundice.
So she was put under the UV light and was observed very closely.
We are finally home and loving it. Just trying to get into a routine now.
I was feeding her every 3 hours but now doing on demand feeding which can be every 2 hours and sometimes every half hour.
I will post some pictures as soon as I can remember how to do it lol
Hope all is well with you all xx
