Epidural?

I went to parent craft classes which convinced me NOT to have an epidural. As a result I was in labour for 20 hours until I finally caved. That was the stupidest thing I ever did, if I'd have had the epidural sooner my labour would have been easier to deal with both physically and emotionally and I would have had more energy left to push at the end. Personally I'll be having an epidural this time at the first twinge. They are bloody marvellous and if they only numb one side of your body tell them as they can rock you to get it to go down both sides. Thats what happened to me and at the end I could have given birth to a flippin Rhino and would have been none the wiser, and NO I dont feel like I missed out on the whole labour experience.

Ha, I got a little scared reading some of the comments!!

I guess I will just have to see what the crack is when the time comes!

MMMMMMMMMMM epidural nice. I was in agony for ages and told the midwife i dont care what you say im gonna push. I feel like pushing. She checked me after saying not to and i as fully dialated. I got my Epidural in the last half hour ish. i could't keep still with the contraction.I couldnt get the hang of Gas n air. But on a scale from 1 to 20 i felt pain at 20 then i had the epidural and it was then about 9. I couldn't have done it without.

im dead against them , for one if the needle goes in the wrong place, there are terrible aftermath, and plus i hate needles.
to be honest gas and air was perfectly fine, and id rather feel giving birth rather than take away that memory but thats just me
i loved beeing in labour xx

so epidutral ladies, Something ive always wanted to ask is it true when it wares off you get that overwhelming pain ?

thanks xx

i coulnt get used to the gas and air. I culdn't slow my breathing down enough to breath it in. I know what you mean about the birth. It never took nothing away from jodies birth it didn't stop the pain. and it sertainly didnt stop me ripping. I loved giving birth id do it again tommorow. I did'nt notice mine wearing off it just did. Everybody is different i was planning a drug free birth from the start but i needed help at the end. I hadn't slept for for four days and was exausted. I fell asleep about 6 times while i was pushing i was so tiered. You will know when the time comes what is right for you.

just realised you have two kids allready he he. dur. Think natural is best if possible though definately. You do get tiered though dont ya

My epidural started wearing off gradually several times whilst I was in labour - I just began to notice the contractions again. Very gradual though, so each time I just buzzed a midwife to come and top me up again.

After the labour, my legs were very numb for a good half to 3 quarters of the day. It wore off gradually and I just started feeling more and more sore "down there". I didn't get a big rush of pain or anything.
