Hi girls

I have SPD and was advised yesterday that an Epidural may not be the right choice for me in terms of pain relief due to permanent damage that could be done.

So was starting to think of other options for me!

Has anyone had a water birth?
What were your experiences?

Has anyone with SPD had an epidural?

thxs for any advice!!

No SPD here but I did labour a fair bit in my pool at home (homebirth) and found it to be a great way to help pain and get me through the contractions.

TBH I never found the pain so unbearable I felt I needed anything more than G&A and the pool. Even at its worst, I just focused on breathing through the contractions, trying to relax into them, not tense up and it got me through.

Also as it came in waves I had time to relax before the next one. Apart from the big push, but that for me was the least painful part of all.

I had a birth pool and SPD. In the end I had to be transferred and Jacob was born out of water, with no pain relief. The water worked like a dream, though. It was especially good for the SPD because it was much easier to move around and shift positions. PM me with questions, if you want!
