I remember you saying you didnt breastfeed for as long with your other children. I want to try it for longer next time but sometimes I worry that I'll feel bad that I didn't feed eva for as long as the new baby if you get what I mean.

Did you ever feel like that? My mam made the 3of us the same and stopped breastfeeding at 6months (although she fed my younger brother a bit longer as it was her last baby :shhh:)

xx

Hello

You have done so amazingly well!! I think bf'ing for 3 months is brilliant, so 6 months is doubley brilliant!!

I struggled with my first son and barely managed 2 weeks. My daugther was a breeze and I bf'ed her for nearly 18 months. Oscar is a different rascal all together.... the way he's nibbling & biting - I think we might toil to get past a year!

I don't feel bad or guilty. Our circumstances and our babies differ from one another. Your mum was lucky to have been able to give you all an equal start. You have given little Eva a super start - 6 months is great and I also read recently, that our breastmilks' nutritional value, slightly declines after 6 months.

No guilty feelings here!! I've got 3 happy children whom I treat & love equally.

Emilia xx

oh it was my mam who fed us for 6months. I only managed 6weeks and some of that was formula  i think i focused too much on other things like getting the housework done so i felt soooo tired, and eva was really hungry. I wish i had stuck it out but i stopped for the right reasons at the time. I felt happier afterwards.

But next time I will eat better and focus on the baby, eva and sleeping. stuff the housework and the visitors can wait a week too!! xx

  Blonde moment (no offence to other blondies) :D

6 Weeks is great as far as I'm concerned. I am ALWAYS amazed how first time mummies manage it past the first week!!!! Like I said - I managed less than 2 weeks first time round. So I still think you did very very well!!!! :D

We never know how things are going to be first time round and it DOES throw us back - I was exactly the same as you. Second time is a complete doddle - you'd have been there, done that and got the t-shirt!!!
I had better luck with my second baby, but I think I continued so long because it was convenient with an older toddler.

Emilia xx

yeh thats what i was thinking - it might feel easier than doing bottles and nipping out for milk all the time when i have eva to look after too. I hope i can do it anyway - hormones can make you feel like you can't do it at the time! xx

Toriella, any bit of breastfeeding you managed is an accomplishment, so feel proud, not guilty! Best of luck for next time round, I hope it goes well for you, we're here to support you when you start again :)

I agree. The first couple of weeks are a nightmare, next time round you will be more realistic (that is not meant to sound mean, its just I think we are not told the truth and think bfing is just a case of putting baby on boob) and will know that it is tough.

Don't feel bad if you manage to breastfeed for longer next time. Like Emilia said, babies are indiviuals. I may not be able to breastfeed for that long next time. Also we are individuals and we cahnge over time. As a second time mum you tend to be more relaxed and confident. No matter what you will have treated all your children the same and love them the same xx

i breastfed my first for 8 months my second for 3 months and molly for 3 weeks, she just wasnt latching on very well and i was sore and with two more to look after i found it better to bottle feed i don't feel guilty.
all babies are different my mum breastfed her first two but said i wouldnt take her at all.
so just go with the flow what happens happens don't feel guilty i love all my babies equally so it doesnt matter. :D

some is better than none is what i say :D

aw thanks everyone. I will defo come to you for advice when I have my next baby for motivational encouragement :D xx
