Does this say im a little old lady....or.....is it a really cute pretty little girls name I cant make up my mind I really like it so does hubby it seams to be THE only name we like now but I dont want her to sound like an old lady x

My friends SIL called her little girl Elsie and initially I thought "HUH?!" but now I think it's so so cute, and she's such a little doll as well, it really suits her x

I LOVED the name Elsie when I was pregnant but OH didnt. Luckily for us, we had a boy so no arguments and he is Zak. However, if I had a girl in the future, id def put Elsie back on the list. If ur not sure, how about Elsa or Ailsa as alternatives ? x

oh i love it personally but i can see why you would have doubts, but once your little girl is called Elsie you wouldn't associate it with being an older persons name anymore, i would go 4 it myself, very cute. i like older names, i wanted Archie for Ethan but OH was a definate no, if you both like it then go 4 it! x

personally i think of little old mean ladies but thats because both my neighbours on either side was called elsie when i was growing up and they was both old and pretty mean too

Same here I had a friend call her little girl Elsie last year & I was like OMG thats a grannys name but its actually very cute the more u say it & she wouldnt suit any other name now, she has another called martha & we all said 'OMG' about that but love that too now lol x

No. I think its awful, sorry. It does sound old and also every other girls name seems to begin with EL at the moment, but feel free to ignore me

Yeah, I agree with starfish. Would you want to be a teenage girl called Elsie?? Not for me, sorry xxx

This is going to sound horrid but-I think of my friends dog as she is called elsie. Sorry :(

lol its ok my mum hates it too and iv gone off it again, me and hubby sat with the names books last night and still couldnt find a single name we love its driving me crazy!!!! I hope something stands out soon x

I really like Elsie, but my mum mentioned some hag in Corrie used to be called that - so she didn't like it.

I did go off it a lot with all the Ellie, Ella, etc surge going on.

It was much nicer to me when it was kind of odd, but now it's way too mainstream.

one of the girls i wored with said she was having elsie and was like "oooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkk!" then since i left that job and started in a new nursery ive now started to look after an elsie and she is the sweetest little button and now im thinking i really like the name elsie. Its sweet cos she has an older sis called dolly which i love and a baby sis called betty. they were doing along the "old fashioned coming back in" names and all three are just so lovely!

I love it actually, all the old classics are back now
I like Enid as in Enid Blyton too

I can see it coming back but we also had an 'Aunty' Elsie (born 1908) who lived next door to my Nan, she went senile and became quite a burden to the family (she had none of her own) but then she did leave the 8 houses she owned (her Dad built them) to our family!!!
