Finally home from the hopsital after a week and can announce the arrival of my beautiful baby girl Ella Grace born 2pm on the 23rd of november!
It all started around midnight on thursday with irregular contractions which were quite painfull! I was in bed trying to breath through them and then i felt a small gush of water about 3am... i didnt think it was my waters as it was only a small amount but i put on a pad to moniter and i was leaking my waters. Phoned triage at 10am to tell them my waters had gone and i was contracting and was told to go in to be checked over.!
We arrived at 10.30 and pains started to settle, was told my cervix was soft but not dilated which was dissapointing as id been having pains all morning but was kept in as my blood pressure was high and as my waters had gone i would have to induced within the 24 hours any way.!
At 5am i was put on the drip to induce labour and was 1cm. i started using the gas and air and then at 3cm opted for pethadine, i was checked at 1pm and was 5cm and needed more pain relief so asked for the epidural as i thought if it takes the same amount of time to get to 10 i wouldnt have the strength to push.. ladie came got the epi ready and within about 2 mins i felt i needed to push, luckily the epi had kicked in just enough for me not to feel too much pain and to be able to feel my contractions.. So i went from 5cm to 10cm in one hour and pushed for 15 mins. Whilst pushing baby stopped breathing so the room filled with doctors and i was told to push push push even when i wasnt contracting! It was hard work.. she was rushed off to be resusitated and eventually after an agonising wait i was able to hold my little girl!!!
It was a crazy day and things happend so quickly but it was worth every moment!
Unfortunatly for me i was diagnosed with severe pre eclampsia and kept in for the week and still under care now from home!! Baby was treated for jaundice and lost over her 10% weight allowance so between the 2 of us we caused the midwives alot of trouble lol!!
Super long birth announcment but it feels nice to share my story with others who have gone through the same thing!!
