Have finally got a minute visitor free to let you all hear my birth story. Was admitted to hospital on Monday night with high bp and proteine in urine, as I am type 1 diabetic they decided to induce me (37+5). Got the propess inserted at 8pm on Tuesday night, it had to stay in for 24 hours to make the cervix favourable. So 8pm Wed night I was checked and was 2cm and cervix was favourable. Started getting mild contractions wed night which were all in my back, had to stay on the ward until labour ward had a space to take me to break my waters so got a good sleep wed night then they woke me 4am thursday morning to say labour ward was ready!

Was taken through to labour ward and at about 5am once OH had arrived my waters were broke and I was put on the hormone drip to get my contractions goin. By 9am they were coming thick and fast, and I was loving the gas and air lol. Babys heart was being closely monitored as the baseline was running high, it came back down to normal but baby wasn't making much movements. They examined me at 11am and I was 4cm. They tried to get blood from babys head at that point to check oxygen levels to make sure baby wasn't distressed but i wasn't dilated enough to get it taken so the decision was made to go for a C-section. Was a case of better safe than sorry especially with the diabetes and high bp. So 12 oclock was taken to theatre and given a spinal. OH changed into his scrubs. It was all very relaxed and calm, nothing rushed. The staff were great. At 1.11pm Eilidh Mae Lapage was brought into the world weighing a very healthy 9lb 14. She is absaloutley perfect and was such a nice surprise to be team pink! She has settled in great, such a laid back and calm baby (so far lol)

It is such a magical moment when you see your baby for the first time!
