Early Scan - private

thats what i was advised too, despite an mmc last year i haven't had an early scan so am paying for a private one. A couple of people advised me to lie to get an NHS one, but it goes against every grain in my body. Besides, I need reassurance not to worry that i am taking time away from someone who has symptoms (I don't, but then i didn't with my mmc either!). Also we are lucky and can afford the £100 for a scan, i know not everyone is in that boat and wish we could all have the reassurance we needed!

When I got my recurrent miscarriage results from my consultant I was pregnant again and asked about an early scan... He said he coould not refer me BUT said I went along and told them I was cramping they would see me.....

This was a consultant who specialises in recurrent miscarriage??? I nearly fell off my chair and told him I would not do anything of the sort... He did say "I don't normally advocate it but because of your history you should consider it".... Urm - he deals with recurrent m/c so all the women he see's have a history similar to mine????

I booked a private scan as every cell is my body was against what the consultant suggested but in the meantime my GP actually got the EPU to call me and they said that due to my history they would see me - with no symptoms!

Oddly the night before the scan I had the teeniest little bit of blood, had I not been wearing white underwear I'd not have even seen it!!

There was never any way I was going to lie or exaggarate to be seen at the EPU, I had been treated by them several times before and think they do an amazing job!! Thankfully they did see me and I cannot tell you all how much I appreciate that....

Just looked into scans near me and they're £99 for an early scan. Is this around normal price? I really want one but brought the subject up with dh again and he's not keen, thinks its a lot of money :( boo!

That is what I paid, but I am in central London, have a look around as you may be able to find one cheaper

I just found some that are £80 but he's still not keen to spend the money :( guess I'll have to wait fx I don't have to wait past 12 weeks!!

We are so lucky that we have a place near by that is fairly cheap. If you are 5-7 weeks it is £35 and 8-11 weeks is £50. Just want conformation that everything is as should be so we can relax and enjoy being pregnant. Good luck to all x
