ok so as a follow on from lexi's post in the ask a mum section

Do I need to buy size one?? I have only bought size 2 so far because I thought size ones were for small/prem babies. is this not the case? Im so confused now!!! :wall2:

ah ok then thats good I really dont think my baby is going to be smaller than 5lb so thats why I only bought size 2!

I am using size 1 with alex and he was 8lbs 2oz

oh shit really?? ahh I really dont understand what the difference is between them if it doesnt go on weight because size 2's are from 5lb -13lb??

I used size 1 nappies with Paige until she was 8 weeks old. She was 6lb 12oz. Im still using size 2s now.

Yeah but size ones are up to like 10 lbs so a bit smaller, from my thread people are still in size ones so glad I've got a few, I'm sure there's not that much difference in them, see how you get on with size 2s! There's even smaller than size 1 for prems x

I think its because when theyre newborns theyre quite skinny, so even if they weigh like 9lbs theyre still alot smaller than a 2 month old thats 9lb...does that make any sense? It could be worth getting one pack of size 1s to take to the hospital as I found even the size 1s were huge for the first week or 2.

After a week though you'd have no problems with size 2 I reckon, but just to be on the safe side could be worth buying a pack.

there is a size smaller than size 1 for prem and small babys that we use for Ellie and we hace size 1 and 2 nappies in the cupboard and the size 2 are quite big xx

I have 11 packs of size 1 and then just 2 packs of size 2 ready for Devon (brought one each week or so with shopping, to help when cash tight after xmas in Jan).

My kids were 6'11, 7'2 and 5'15 at birth and all got up to 11 lb weight by 12 weeks, if that helps as a guide
so we should use size 1 for ages - unless Devon comes out a right porker! (you never know)

right ok then maybe I had better get some size 1's too god its so confusing! lol thanks ladies :-)

tegan is 9lb and seven weeks old and still in size 1 nappies ive got 1 more pack left then ill start on size 2 which ive got loads of x

I have 4 packets of size 1's and the rest size 2's. they dont stay in size 1's very long but its a good idea atleast getting 1 or 2 packs as size 2's will look really big when there first born xx

The weight ranges on them are quite big so I'm sure size 2 would be fine but my boys were 8lb 13 and 8lb 14.5 when they were born and they were both still in size 1 for the first few weeks x

How spooky Sam's mum - the weights of your two were soo close !!

On the advice of someone we bought 1 pack of micro size nappies for first few days - George was 7lb15 but needed the small nappies for a few days, on size 1's now.

I've bought a couple of packs of size 1 and the rest size 2...my babys were 8lb,9lb 5 and 8lb 9 so chances r this 1'll b big aswel. I'd rather buy less of the smaller size and go out and buy more than buy 2 many and b stuck wiv nappies I can't use xxx
