My midwife had just told me that my hospitals policy is to discharge the day after a planned section. Surely that is a bad idea?! My bathroom is upstairs for one and amongst other things it seems like a really bad idea.

With my other sections I was in for 3-4 days.

Has anyone else been discharged the day after a section?

I've had 3 sections Hun and never discharged the next day x first was emergency others were planned x

At the heartlands they discharge 3 days after.. I thought after a day would be too soon! X

1 day is too soon! I am a midwife and at our hospital a woman has to stay in for at least 2 days. You can demand to stay in if they try and send you home. I wouldn't have felt up to going home after my section! X

I wouldn't leave! 1 day after?....are they serious?!
No way tambo. Stand your ground, say, well if anything happens...on your head be it.

Had my section (emergency) 7.12pm the monday was out by lunchtime wednesday x

pregnant with baby no 2 ;)
sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 excuse my terrible spelling :P

Tbh the thought of leaving the hospital only 24 hours after the op makes me feel a bit sick :(

When I asked the midwife if I would be out Monday or Tuesday she said Sat afternoon for sure. I have my pre op on Wednesday at the hospital though so I'm going to tell them I'm not happy about it and see what they say. Surely if I'm not comfortable with it they can't just frog March me off the grounds lol

No they cannot!!! It's a big operation, and you've had previous sections. It makes sense you are in at least 2 days to make sure you are ok.
To be honest I'm still in shock at this thread!

I had my op at 5pm on a thursday and the dr came to see me at 10am the next day. He said everything looked fine and I could leave once the catheter was removed (24hrs after the op). As baby was in special care I stayed until in hospital until the saturday afternoon. To be honest I think 1 day is a way too soon, but after 2 days I was desperate to go home.
Surely if they would see how you are, one of the best things about being in hospital is the electric bed as it makes it a lot easier to get up. x

I actually thought my midwife was pulling my leg at first because we do have a laugh together but then she told me it's my hospitals new policy, apparently been in place for a year!, called "enhanced care".

I'll definitely be raising my concerns at my pre op meeting on Wednesday and if they insist it is a 1 day discharge I will change hospitals I don't care how close I am to delivery x

I was ready to be discharged 24hrs after my section. Baby checks done and all our papers were ready. I was made to stay at the last minute by an idiot junior dr, for a blood test that could have been done by my mw at home. (Bloods came back fine btw)

I was actually ready to go home, I'd been awake since 5am and up on my feet since 7am. Showered, baby sorted etc.
In fact, I feel I would have been better off at home. The ward was over capacity and I wasnt getting medication on time which caused unnecessary pain. Had I have been at home, I'd have been able to self medicate and be comfy in my own bed.

The lady opposite me had her 3rd section same time as me and went home after 24hrs.

I do think it depends on the person though and the hospital should listen to the patient.
I had less pain after my section than I did with my assisted delivery.

It is 24 hours in my hospital all being well with mum and baby.

I had it confirmed today by my consultant. All being well I will be discharged on Saturday. I did however ask them that if I don't feel ready am I forced out and they said not at all unless there is a major shortage of beds suddenly. I think I will push to stay until Sunday but you never know, I might actually be fine and want to go home on Saturday, fingers crossed I guess! x

Ive opted for a different hosp tambo this time as as long as my baby doesnt have to stay long with antibodies like last time they chuck out like this too. I got given a private room last time which i hate and i was in there for 4 days , i was climbing the walls, i dont care , my family will have to help me more at home this time , i want to get home quick!! Wish that elec bed can come too tho!!

Good luck incase i dont get the chance, 3rd of may is a lovely birthday date and not long now!!!

Yeah I do think 4 days is to much, especially when you are in a shared room, other visitors and numerous crying babies are not good for all us new Mommies sleep lol but I also think 1 day isn't enough either! I honestly think I'll push to stay until Sunday.

Yeah, not long now! 7 days from now I'll be at hospital getting prepped up :D omg I can't wait!

Me too. I'm scared. I hope they don't tell me I can go after 24 hrs. I don't think I'd be happy at all.
I've no experience of a csection, and with twins, I just don't know how I or they will be.

I just cannot believe it is next Friday! our car has decided to not to start either :wall2:

I was discharged the next day after my 2nd c-section. Had baby at 1.40 and was home before 3 the following day, my hospitals policy is minimum 24hrs all being well.
I was glad to get home, trying to get any sleep on a ward is so hard and i was shattered!

I don't think you'll be released the next day with twins tbh and our babies will share their Birthday :-)

I still think I'm gonna push to stay in till Sunday though unless I am feeling like super woman lol

Tapatalking so can't see sigs :(
