Is it better to do opk in the morning or the evening? Never done these before

OPKs are best done in the evening.

I do mine between 5 and 6 in the evening and try not to pee or drink after 2.30ish

Could I have the 18th please, I'll probably be annoying and have to change but taking a guess for now.

All updated!

I've just realised that I'll get two goes in December and my second testing date would be 25th! That would either be the best prezzie ever or a total bummer if bfn!

I shall wait and see what happens at the start of the month and fx I won't need to test at Christmas!

Started my OPKs today!!

:)

Hey Emma I only just realised it only 5 days till I ovulate if the prediction on ff is correct, never used opk before so this is all new to me, do you think I should start tomorrow? Exciting!

Hi ladies! Emily, please can you put me down for the 20th? I loved your story about getting a BFP in December for your son. Hope it happens for you this time too! Fx! Hoping to see lots of BFPs! Best of luck everyone! Xx

I do mine over six to seven days- start on CD9 until CD15, then I see my positive peak and then it go negative again. I'm a poas addict though so my answer would always be yes! Yes, pee on those sticks!!

Hi

Can I have 10th Dec? AF came on Thursday 13 so a little low.

I've joined this forum and I'm very new to all the terminology so it'll take some working out for me to keep up with the lingo.

I have my mirena coil out in August and now ttc but it took some time for AF to come back as I hadn't had any periods whilst on the coil.

After no period for 6 weeks I took agnus castus to give me a boost and AF arrived the next day although I think this was pure coincidence because after lots of research it wouldn't happen that quick. I took it daily every morning and AF arrived spot on day 28. I thought my cycle was back but had reservations in case it was the AC but kept taking it up until CD12 and stopped. AF arrived on CD27. I'm not completely off the AC hoping my cycle is back although not sure I'm ovulating and do t know if I want the stress of the opk's.

Anyway, my partner is based in the military so works away from home Mon-Fri which makes ttc that much harder.

We've both booked CD12-17 off work this month so we're chilled out and have lots of time to dtd with the hope for a BFP on 10th Dec.

Sorry, lots to take in and I know I'm such early days compared to others but any advice would be great as only got OH home during ovulation in Nov and Dec and then it's back to him being away so need to nail it! X

Hi hun.

Welcome to the forum.

I had the mirena too but had my af just a couple of days after it was taken out. I didn't have any periods when I had the mirena either.

My doc said it shouldn't stop you ovulating though.

OPKs will show you whether you are ovulating or not and I don't find them hard to read. Mine basically either have a line or they don't! I'm not very in tune with my body but am starting to notice changes in my cm as I get closer to ov.

Maybe see how you go for a cycle or two and if no joy then start with OPKs?

Hi Emily

Thanks for your reply.

I had a bleed a couple of days after having the coil out and then they stopped for a day and then started again so I knot know if it was AF or a withdrawal bleed.

My Dr said ovulation may well have stopped because I didn't have a period which has thrown me a little because I was told when I had it put in that I'd be fertile the minute it can out.

I don't notice and changes in my body throughout the month other than discharge but even the change in that isn't a great deal.

If I use OPK's when should I start using them, what time of day, how many each day (I heard twice a day because you may only have a 6 hour slot when you get the hormone surge) and which are best to use?

X

My bleed was literally 48 hours after my coil came out. It was very light and only lasted 2 days. I counted it as af and sure enough I ovulated 14 days later.

I use the one step cheapie opks. I start mine on CD9 and take them in the evening between five and six o'clock. I try not to pee or drink after 2.30. I continue to take them up until I've had my surge and then stop once they go negative again at around CD15.

I have the fainstest of faint lines on them most days- literally barely visible and then around ov, a very obvious positive. For OPKs the test line needs to be as dark as or darker than the control.

Does that all make sense?

If you want, I can get some picks of last cycle's OPKs so you can see the obvious surge? Because I'm gross and keep pee'd on sticks in my bedside table!! Lol!!

I did my first opk today on the digital thing and there was a blank circle, I will keep testing and hopefully see a smiley face soon, think I'm due to ovulate between 19th and 22nd am I testing too early?

Nope. It's never to early to poas!! lol!

I have a digital one too but only use it once I've had a positive on my cheapies and only because I like to poas!!

I always think that I would rather test early and know that I've def caught ov, than leave it too late and risk missing it.

XX

Hmmm what cheapies do you use? I'm really worried I'm gonna get obsessed with this and very disappointed when I get a bfn again, we caught on our first cycle and that would've been a honeymoon baby but that was an early MC, no pressure then, I didn't really count last month cause hadn't had a normal period but who know what to. Think now?!

Just one step cheapies ordered off e-bay.

I could quite easily get obsessed with this ttc malarky. Sod it, I already am obsessed!

But, I already have a son and never ever thought hubby would agree to number 2 so, I am going to make the most of it. I am going to enjoy poas and the process of ttc. I shall make the most of all of it and if that means starting with obsessing over pee sticks then so be it.

I have so many... 50 ov tests and preg tests I have: 8 cheapies, 2 frers, 2 superdrug, a tesco and 2 diggis!
