Was wondering what was best to get for little one, want baby in with us for the first few months and was thinking which is best and would last longer?
Also if it is a crib, do you you use the bumpers or are they not recommended because of SIDS, reading conflicting advice about them, so best to ask people who know!

I had carrycot for 1st 2 and Moses basket 4 3rd but am havin a crib this time...they're longer than a Moses basket so should last longer. I'm using the bumper cos tbh a baby doesn't tend to move about much in 1st few months, aslong as ties r secure it's ok cos baby can't wriggle under it or anything. I'm just using the coverlet for show. I've posted a pic in tri 3 of my crib today xx

I've got a moses basket but i would of thought a crib would last longer xx

they can be in a crib longer as they are more sturdy and bigger i use a bumber too

I got a moses basket last time , it didnt last me long at all . I will be getting a crib this time :)

I had two moses baskets for Cahal, one upstairs and one downstairs. Thankfully they were both given to me so didn't cost me anything otherwise they would have been an expensive waste of money - he was too big for them by the time he was 10 weeks old!

I had a crib for upstairs and a moses basket for down, the crib lasted until Odhrán was 8 months, and he still fitted in it, I put him in cot because he was starting to pull himself up etc..

O and like Inky, the moses basket lasts a matter of weeks x

I've got both - bought a moses basket and then was given a crib. I've got the moses basket downstairs and the crib in my bedroom. I took the bumper off the crib so I can see in through the bars when I'm lying in bed.

I had a moses upstairs and a carry cot upstairs. Next time Ill have the moses downstairs and a crib upstairs. Crib would last longer.

I've got best of both worlds too. Got given both. My cot is up in my room and I was just gonna use the Moses basket up and downstairs as you can just take baby up if she falls asleep and you don't want to disturb. Not too sure in the point in my crib, may just use it downstairs wen baby has grown out of Moses basket. X

Thanks this is helpful....I think I'll keep a crib in my bedroom and possibly or possibly not have a Moses basket in living room for convenience...that's if I can pick up a cheapie....saw them in the Mothercare sale and they were still £50!! Thought that was well expensive for a little bit of wicker, lol. xx

I have both I have a crib for our bedroom and a Moses basket for the front room

Ive got a moses basket for our room and a crib for down in the living room....

With DD the moses basket lasted a while as she was tiny so was handy then when she outgrew it I put her in her cot which is what I will prob do with this baby too....

I think its personal pref although in gerneral I do agree moses baskets dont last very long at all especially if you have a big baby! xx

Yeah Lisa, where the wood crosses, there is a metal screw in thing to keep it sturdy.. When you loosen them it goes flat x

I got given a Moses basket so will be using that, shall put him in the cot once he has out grown it
XxX

We went for a moses basket on a stand, Evan was then able to be in our room and he was there until 3 months I was paranoid about leaving him in his own room alone. :(
