Hi Girls!
I'm finally finding a moment to do my birth announcement, I've kind of done my birth story on my other thread so I'll keep it short and sweet.
Monday am, felt, ill, hot then shivery, Monday pm, went to hospital to get checked out, all my observations were fine as were babys, then they checked my bloods, to check my white blood cell count and it came back pretty high, indicating my body was fighting an infection somewhere, because the unknown infection could possibly have been around baby, I was simply told I was having my waters broken in a minute
and would be put on the induction drip, I was a bit shocked and upset as I thought I would be sent home with the diagnosis of a hot flush...also my midwife and friend who was going to deliver me had just come off shift so couldn't stay so I was upset not to have her there too...
So about by about 10pm my waters were broken and I was having very strong painful contractions, I knew induction could be a slow process so I asked for an epidural and the midwife looking after me said it would be a good idea..The epidural was fab, I could feel contractions but no pain, I was left to chill out and would be checked in 4 hours, at that point I was 2cm, when I was checked after 4 hours I was only 3cm, I was gutted!
I was then left for another 4 hours, I had a sleep and so did hubby and was woke up and checked to be told I was 8cm!
It was about 7am and I got a phonecall from my friend/midwife who said she was on her way!!! I was so happy, the MW that was looking after me was nice but not that personable, I really wanted my friend there tbh so I was so happy it all worked out in the end!
By the time she arrived it as 8:30, she examined me and I was still 8cm, so we waited a couple of hours and I was 10cm, the doc popped and said to leave baby to descend for an hour, so about 11am I started pushing, it was hard work getting him through the pelvis, Hubby and my friend had a leg each and she guided him though too, bubs was looking good on the heart monitor too which was good...I pushed to get his head out for about another hour, it was there to be seen but was a bit stuck and I was getting tired, a doc came in and discussed intervention in 20 mins, I was NOT wanting a forceps/ventouse delivery so I pushed and pushed as hard as I could and finally his head was out, his body soon followed and I had my little dude in my arms!!

He is absolutely gorgeous!! We have called him Charlie Jack and he was 7lb 13oz so I'm glad he came early!
I paid the price a bit for my eager pushing and did need quite a few stitches, this was done in theatre to ensure a neat job and also as my epidural had worn off, I had a spinal in my epidural catheter and was awake throughout chatting to all the team!
Hubby was left on his own with the boy for a good hour which was a lovely bit of bonding time for them, then the grandparents arrived, and we all spent time on the ward.
That night his first feed went really well, he latched on straight away and fed for ages!
The first night and second night I was in a fair bit of pain with my stitches and luckily Charlie slept through both nights, the next night he woke twice and has done the last few nights about 1am and 5am for a change and a feed, getting up has been cool as I'm getting 4 hours sleep in between.
So I guess that's it......not that short but never mind!
Oooh I nearly forgot..some piccys.
xx
