Cervical Mucus: Can someone please explain?

Yeah same I always do mine orally.

I have no idea what's going on. The app says my CM and temp put me in my fertile window but my temperatures are anything but consistent.

I'm rubbish at this :(

Get baby dancing just in case.

Temping didn't work for me either, too much hassle and too many factors seem to muck it up. I just rely on CM. If your problem is that your mouth is open at night you can take your temp vaginally.

I think that's because there are more people who need information than people who have information. It's shocking how few women grow up being taught what their bodies do every month!
There's enough people hanging around to keep it interesting :)

I agree with you there even in sex ed we were not told about futile windows just that you bleed every month and to make a baby sperm needs to meet the egg.
I'm surprised my mum didn't tell us but I think she was waiting for us to have an interest in ttc to do it but I haven't told her as I know exactly what she will be like she will be calling me everytime I'm due to test with her hopes up. She is focused on the moment that my sister is going to end up pregnant very soon as she just got married and is on her honeymoon so I'm happy for her to focus on my sister untill I get my bfp

Im in a similar situation, albeit my sister is already pregnant, so my mum is concentrating on her, whilst im over here trying to conceive at 31 and my sister is 29 and managed ok, but she did start before me, so thats my excuse  although it has taken for me to tell my sister that we are trying, for her to educate me on 'baby making' - other than that i havent told anyone, so i know my sister will be straight on the blower wanting to know the results of any pregnancy test or whether my af turns up

See, that shocks me. My mum made me watch videos and read books about how the female body works when I first got my period. I'm shocked other people's mums never did. I'll be doing the same for my kids.
I had to teach sex ed last year and you better believe those 15 year old girls knew about how it all works... how they're not actually fertile 24/7, but also that their hormones haven't settled yet blah blah it can be hard to pinpoint fertile times so they should still practice safe sex. I hate that we as a society lie to them. How can they make smart choices if they're not informed. Knowledge is power!!

/end rant

My mum did tell us about our period of course but just told us pretty much the same as sex ed class did which was awful they pretty much talked about the fact lads have wet dreams and girls get their period and you need to use some form of contraception and how to put a condom on and how if you don't you will get pregnant or get an std and that was pretty much it

Yep that's what I mean! Most young women don't get more than the "You can get pregnant when an egg is fertilised. This can happen 24/7 and if you're not pregnant you will get a period once a month. You can still get pregnant on your period. Use condoms or you will get pregnant!" - irks me. It's technically true but then girls grow up thinking they're always in their fertile window and not realising it's only 24hrs a month that the egg lives for. But I digress. I like that forums like this exist for us to help each other :)

Yea I'm the same hun I does get to me that we are just taught how not to get pregnant. I love that there are forums out there as I have somewhere to go with my questions and for support which makes a huge difference like over learnt so much from it

Not good is it, you grow up believing the myths, struggle to concieve and have no idea why. I'll be shooting straight with my daughter when she's at that age.

Then you think of all the unplanned teenage pregnancies and wonder what the hell women did wrong to have such disagreeable bodies lol.

Yea it drives me insane that I wasn't taught any of this to be fair teenagers hormones are everywhere so I'm not surprised they catch quickly but our hormones are more settled and stuborn

Yeah fair point. They don't even cover it in biology never mind sexual health class.

To be fair when the majority of us were on sex Ed age - there wasn’t as much access to info as we have now. I’m not even sure my mum knows what ewcm is lol!

Also true, hard to pinpoint exactly what was know back then.

(I'm officially in the 2ww)

Thank god for this thread....

I am now pretty certain I am at the ewcm stage, which after reading the posts on here is about right...

so this is something that happens before ovulation?

I am well chuffed my body is doing all these things I have since learnt about

Ewcm is fertile secretions so I’d definitely go for it when you have it :)

Most women get it for 1-3 days before O (because it keeps sperm alive and waiting for the eggy), but some only get in on O day. Bd everyday you see EWCM as well as the day after it stops to maximise your chances. I count the day after the EWCM stops as 1dpo. :) Good luck x

I usually get EWCM but this cycle I didn't seem to get any!

We DTD 6 out of 7 days, and I've had nausea and fatigue for 2 days. I'm only 3DPO so I doubt these are 'pregnancy' symptoms but they could well be 'sudden hormonal shift' symptoms, I never feel like this during a cycle so trying to remain optimistic while not getting my hopes up.

My BBT chart is all over the place though, it still hasn't pinpointed ovulation yet, but I got 2 definite positive OPK's so I'm going by that.

Sidenote: I love how we are all just chatting! :D

I still haven't had a pos opk! I've had a cold so wondering if it's delaying things. Have had EWCM for days. Getting a bit fed up!

Didnt dtd last night, we both just wernt up for it (already had the telling off from my little sis ) and now i wont see oh until Wednesday night :wall2:

We dtd saturday night so i am hoping that might have been ok...

Fertile window is officially tomorrow...
