BV or just smell? Lol

Hello,

I cant believe im writing this but im a bit worried I have bacterial vaginosis. I just get such a bad smell for a couple of days after BDing. I think I might buy the Canestest where u can test yourself for it at home.

I dont have any other symptoms though like burning or unusual discharge.

Anyone else?

P.s. when I started checking my cervical position last cycle I noticed these small bits of discharge that were almost the consistency of toilet paper and after Googling I thought I had Cytolitic Vaginosis so I had a bath with 2 teaspoons of Baking Soda. No other symptoms though and im not checking CP any more. It didnt come out, was only there when I checked.

I think its normal to get a funny smell a couple of days after sex, I get it too, have done for years lol. I think it's due to some of the sperm dying off inside you, at least thats my theory. I don't have vaginosis by the way as have had that checked at hospital. xx

Could be normal, but the part where you said it was like tissue paper sounds like thrush to me. I'd get it checked hun! Xx

I have never noticed a smell after sex. It's prob nothing but I would get a test to be sure xx

It's probably the sperm...I would think you would have other symptoms and if it goes away by itself it doesn't sound like anything.

I'd get it checked out, just in case. A bad odor isn't really normal

Just to add myself and my OH had a full screening at a genito urinary clinic and our my tests were normal, and they tested absolutely everything lol, it's definitely not infection as it's only ever after sex. My OH and I call it the sex smell lol.

Also meant to add that I get the white tissue stuff, its abrasions from vigorous sex, it rubs epithelial skin tissue off from your vaginal wall, pretty gross lol. xx

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your replies! I ended up buying the Canestest from boots and it was positive! Went to my GP today and she prescribed me antibiotic cream that you put up there, internally for 7 days.

I'll never know if it's stopped me getting pregnant or not. Some people on the internet think it did stop them because when the infection was cleared up they got their BFP. Could just be coincidence though. I'm on cycle 5 of trying. Other people got their BFP while they had BV...

I'm o'ing today so might BD later then start the treatment after that. She said it was fine to BD but other advice on the internet is to not BD for a week. She gave me Clindamycin cream which is meant to be safe during pregnancy. I've heard BV can recur a lot, I just hope this clears it up for good.

P.S. I really hope i've not had it ages as I think untreated for a while could lead to fertility problems, not sure though. All this time i've thought my CM was normal, and maybe it has been but maybe some of it has been from the BV.

Thanks! That makes sense although I'm wondering if I got it from doing the cervical position checks too much as i'm not sure our BD'ing is vigorous

It could be from checking your cervix, they say if you have any kind of infection even a simple thrush episode, it can spread to your cervix if you check it during that time. Also that your finger nails must be kept trimmed and clean as this can transfer bacteria. On the other hand, there are a lot of other factors to take into consideration beyond your control. Not saying it's because of anything you have done xxx

I had BV for years and didnt know! I thought the smell after sex was just normal for me aha. It smelt bad of fish for days after sex no matter how much i cleaned down there it just wouldn't go. After i took prescription we had sex and there was no smell omg!! Lmao.
