I was just reading someone elses thread and I now think I've got BV and I've had it for weeks not realising and I'm worried I may have done some damage to the baby. I've had increased cm for ages now and it's also a little bit smelly but I just assumed it was my hightened sense of smell and symptoms of my pregnancy. It can also be quite discoloured sometimes. Looking at the symptoms online though I'm almost sure it's BV and I feel so stupid for letting it carry on for this long not worrying.

I'm going to phone my GP first thing in the morning but do you think I could have already let it go to far??? I'm terrified now.

Awww don't worry, I commented on the the other post I've just finished some antibiotics for it.

To be honest its very hard to tell if anything is wrong as its only a discharge and this always changes from time to time. I'm sure the baby is fine, I think its mainly if you leave it through your whole pregnancy you might have problems. I'm sure there are so many people out there that have it and never get checked.

I would advise anyone to get checked out for anything like this, usually they can test you at your doctors or clinic. BV is not a sexually transmitted infection so anyone can have it...Its caused by over cleaning the area or as my doctors said too much sex haha!

Don't worry DW but do get it checked, antibiotics work great :-) xx

cant u not fone 24hr midwife if u feel that bad hun cos a dont know much about it x

I'm sure you will be fine, I've had it a few times so you get to know all the signs but I think lots of women don't realize until it gets really bad, I think it can also clear up by itself but obviously you shouldn't leave it in pregnancy!

good luck sure she will be fine. I wouldnt of know BV existed if it wasnt for this forum so probably not to uncommon to have it for a while etc all the best xxxxx

Thanks ladies. I'm seeing my GP at 11.20am this morning so hopefully will get it sorted soon xxx

good luck hope you get something to clear it up quick! :)xx

was it mine? i went doctors they took swob the doctor went to give me penecillin to clear what ever it is away but i screamed out and told him nooo allergic to penecillin so i just waiting for results of swob x

Yes it was your post hun that made me think. Oh well, only half an hour to wait to see what my GP says.

What are the symptoms of BV?

At least half the women who get BV have no symptoms at all. If you do have symptoms, you might notice a thin white or gray discharge with a foul or fishy smell. This odor is most apparent after sex, when the discharge mixes with semen. You may also have burning when you urinate or irritation in your genital area, though this isn't common.
Let your healthcare provider know if you have these symptoms. She'll examine a sample of your vaginal fluid and cervical secretions to see if you have BV or another infection, and she'll prescribe medication accordingly. i picked up this am sure i just got a frush but without itching x

I am a HUGE sufferer of thrush, I had to have a course of treatment last year for 6 months as I was getting thrush every single month without fail and it was so annoying. Luckily **touch wood** it appears to have solved my recurring problem and I've only had it once or twice since but this is totally different and I know I definitely haven't got thrush - when I get it I'm very ver ysore and itchy and have more discharge but its nor smelly like this.

Just got back from Dr's. She said that BV was very unusual in pregnancy and she has only ever treated 1 person?! Weird. Anyway, she took two swabs and said I do look a bit thrushy inside but I said my symptoms are totally different to usual as I'm not at all sore and itchy. She doesn't want to treat me until we know if its either thrush or BV so I need to wait for my results. She didn't seems worried that I have it and need to wait for the results so I feel better now.

She also listened to babies heartbeat again for me

Maybe you just got a mild case of thrush this time, least you been and got checked x
