Breastfeeding as contraception...

Has anyone here ever got pregnant whilst breastfeeding?

I read that if you exclusively breastfeed a baby under 6 months old the contraceptive effect of this is 98-99% effective. So I took my frosty knickers off last night and let dh get his wicked way but with out a raincoat and I'm now shitting myself. You'd think I'd know better after reading other peoples posts about possible pregnancies soon after having a baby. But surely I'm covered right?

there are a few babies on here that were as a result of using breastfeeding, I think you are better covered if you are not going long streches between feeds, I would doubt that I am covered as Toby goes 11 hours on a night...

I am in the same boat though, we used bf and withdrawal once a few weeks ago, and I am hoping that I feel sick cos I am tired... (I should test really as the nausea is probably in my head, but I daren't buy one cos of the thoughts of others as I buy one with a young baby at my side )

Hmmm well you read my post in GR I got the MAP as a precaution but seriously you should of seen the look of disgust I got in the doctors yesterday when I said I didn't know the date of my last period cause I hadnt put it on the questionare and said I had my baby on 10th October this year so Rowesb I get where you're coming from lol

Lol, the chemist i go to looks about 8 years younger than me. I can just imagine him giving m e the contraception talk. I'd be like "yea just gimmee the pill boy..." lol

I should of just gone to the chemist too. But I went to the doctors and asked over reception and had to wait for the doctor to sign my presciption. My Mum had Jacob and was off elsewhere and I lied that I was going to register Leo as I was leaving the surgery my Mum was walking through the door, luckily I left at that time. The chemist is next to the toilet/changing room so I lied that I had to change Leo hence why I was coming that way

that's so funny.

I remember once when I was young and wild I needed the MAP and it was christmas bank holiday and I couldn't risk not getting it. I had to go to A&E to get it. the look on the triage nurses face was a picture!

I can just imagine my Mothers poor face if I told her why I really needed to go to the doctors!

Yep you can definatally get pg when bf'ng I'm almost 99.9% certain two d my friends were still breastfeeding when pregnant coz they did the whole tandem feeding thing xx

I well didn't kbow a&e could give it! I spose at Xmas they have to! When I got it my chemist had to look in his book to see if you could take it whilst breastfeeding! I felt a right slag!

Did you get it? Your extra fertile after having a child for the first year so easy to catch. I only had sex the once using a condom after having belle and when belle was 3 months found out I was 10 weeks preg with zander
