Hi ladies,

I just popped over from TTC with a breast feeding question.
About 2-3 months ago I found a breast lump and went to my doctor who said not to worry as it was mobile and referred me to the hospital.

Since then I have had an ultrasound of my breast and found out that it is nothing to worry about although it is quite large. About 3.2cm. The doctor advised me to have it removed but she also gave me the option to wait 6 months and see if it goes down by itself. At the time I was in my 2ww so she said if I was pregnant the best she could do would be to wait 6 months and see how it goes.

I was wondering if it would have any impact on breast feeding as I've been thinking and if my BBs are full of milk they aren't going to do surgery on them for this lump that doesn't bother me in any way it's just the fact it's there.

Also does anyone know how my BBs growing would affect the lump?

Any advice would be brill! As I definitely want to breast feed when the time comes around.

xx

I think you should go back and speak to the doc, they will advise you on the options x

I agree you should speak to your doctor again as boobs change so much during pregnancy and breast feeding, the hormones could make it grow or shrink. I would guess that your would still be able to breast feed though as long as the lump isn't taking over the whole breast. Maybe best to have it removed before your pregnant though so you don't have the added stress, have a chat with the doctor again to help decide, they should have better information about the best option for you. Good luck with the lump and TTC x

Defo speak to gp or a specialist hun. It might cause a problem if the lump puts pressure on a milk duct, but at the same time if the lump is mobile it might not get in the way at all. A breast specialist would be the best person to get advice from. Did they tell you what the lump was? Is it a gland or tissue? I had 2 lymph nodes swell in my arm pit, under tongue and in my jaw when I was pregnant and just after having my son and I read that if you touch them even slightly they will remain for 6 months, but if you leave them alone they take approximately 6 months to go! The only one I have left is the 1 under my tongue coz obviously food touches that every day lol

hi - everyone is different !! but i have had a lump in my breast since 16 - its just a cyst. after breastfeeding it did get a bit bigger but not painful or anything, so i decided to get it checked out - i got an ultrasound and a biopsy taken to confirm it was a cyst. they advised getting it taken out as it was simple to do (15mins) and it might get infected at some point in the future, especially if breastfeed again and then it would be harder to remove and more painful.
