Hi, hope you don't mind me asking, but what methods of contraception are you using while breast feeding?

I had my little girl just over 2 weeks ago and am conscious I need to sort out birth control.

Like everything it looks like a minefield. If I have understood correctly you cannot use the combined pill so options are mini pill, iud, implant in arm and then barrier methods.

I thought I'd go either mini pill or implant in arm but then read about hormones going into breadt milk?

Also how soon did you sort contraception out? Ta

We are going with condoms only as we're hoping to conceive number 2 in about a year (must be mad! Lol!) and so don't want to mess up hormones too much. Having said that I'm EBF and haven't had a period anyway xx

I had the copper coil fitted, it has no hormones and it was a really quick procedure. If I want another baby I just have it taken out and I am fertile straight away. I had heard that it can make you're periods heavy but I had my first period since birth this week and it was exactly the same as beforem

I have mini pill and no problems with that. LO is 11 weeks and no period yet but am ebf x

I spoke to the nurse about this at my six week check and she told me I could have the Mirena as it is progesterone only like the mini pill. I tried the copper coil before but unfortunately my periods were so heavy I became anaemic. I'm going to arrange for one when I've spoken to the doctor. xxx

ive used the pill (cerazette) with no issues and ive now got the mirena coil

Thanks everyone. I opted for implant in arm ... And was painless. I was thinking pill but at the minute there is so much to remember I could see myself forgetting to take it! Xx
