I started bleeding lightly and then it got heavier, very much like a period.
I don't fill a whole pad but I'm still having to use pads everyday and I notice more blood comes out when I go to the toilet.

Obviously I am very scared! I believed I was 8 weeks pregnant but I went to the early pregnancy unit to get checked out after day 5. They checked my cervix and said it was closed which is a good sign of no miscarriage.

I had a ultrasound done which showed my Gestational sac & yolk sac but embryo is inconclusive. The nurse said I am earlier pregnant than what I thought. She said she think I am about 6 weeks pregnant, therefore no heartbeat can be detected yet as it's so small right now.

I am going back in 2 weeks for another scan to check the baby's progress.
I am still bleeding though is this normal for it to go on so long?
I have no cramps or pains in my belly, just a slight back ache.

I cant give advice as I think the professionals are the people you need to speak with. Have you spoken with your local midwife? Sorry to hear the bleeding is continuing, hopefully this is normal for you and you say you don't have bad pain which is a good sign I think?

My midwifes have been useless I couldnt even get hold of them when I needed them. The hospital has been great but they said they cant explain why i’m bleeding in pregnancy. Yes no pain is good! I just hope i’m not one these people who bleed through there whole pregnancy. I am in 2 minds part of me thinks this cant be good but then on the other hand if i was loosing the baby it would of happened by now. I just dont know

One thing for sure, is that relaxing will be good for you. Try not to worry as this always seems to give me pain and I've had spotting too through times of stress.

I had this.
My cycle length was 35 days and so when I missed my period it automatically put me at 7 weeks since last period. A week or so later I bled so I went to the hospital nd got refered to the epu.. a scan showed me at around 5 weeks just a sack could be seen so had to go back. 2 weeks later still bleeding and there was my 8 week old baby. I bled right up to 12 weeks and then it stopped no explanation or anything . My baby is now 15 weeks old x

Thank you so much for your response! This has made me feel so much better as its the closest match i’ve found to my bleeding problem. It’s good to know that you had a healthy baby. This gives me hope that next week I will see my babys heartbeat, fingers crossed

Its such a scary time. I hated the first trimester as I felt in such limbo.
Fingers crossed for you x

I understand that wait for a scan as I’m doing it now it’s ahonoaongz

Could you be less than you thought? Also my experience of a miscarriage is that it causes period pain and I had shooting pains and pains in my bum. Have you had any clots? Bleeding can be normal

I could be less then I thought. I do feel like I'm on my period because I'm bleeding quite heavy and every time I go to the loo I do pass what looks to me like a blood clot or maybe just a thick bit of blood. I had a back ache yesterday but it's gone now and I have a weird feeling in belly today not necessary a cramp more like a slightly uncomfortable stretching feeling. I am thinking this is to do with my uterus expanding? I'm not in any bad pain or have shooting pains. I'm trying to think positive

I don’t think that passing clots is a great sign. But I know a few people who had heavy bleeding and was fine.

I’d advised seeing your local pregnant unit so they can give you a scan to check all is okay

I had exactly the same thing, and I’m now 27 weeks. When I went back there was a heartbeat. I just had what they call a hematoma which is basically like a blood clot, so that’s why I was bleeding. I held on and off until 12 weeks when I had a huge heavy bleed and I was scanned the following day (privately) and it was gone. I didn’t have any pain either, but of a sore back and very mild tummy aches occasionally but that’s just pregnancy related. Got everything crossed for you xx

I spotted for about a week or two on and off around week 7/8. It stopped for a couple of days, around 9 weeks I went to work and as I left work I felt myself bleeding, took myself up to the hospital and they were about to discharge me with an early pregnancy scan booked for 5 days later. I was just about to be let out of the ward when I had a sudden gush of blood, felt myself bleed and I touched the back of my jeans to find blood dripping from my hands. It was awful and terrifying. I was rushed to sit on a bed pan, I had no spare clothes with me, a registrar scanned me and examined me to find that baby was okay and my cervix was closed but I had to be admitted overnight with the amount of sudden bleeding. The doctor also found that I had a large haematoma which was pooling at my cervix, hence the bleeding. I continued to bleed until 14 weeks - anywhere from light brown spotting to huge amounts of blood when I went to the bathroom or stood up in the morning. Sometimes the blood was red but appeared to be quite thick just from sitting for so long inside me, I would also pass a tissue-like material. It was almost like pieces of dead skin, really small pieces which appeared thin. I never passed any obvious clots though. I have just had a 16 week scan as I was still lightly bleeding at 12 weeks and the haematoma was still there, even at 16 weeks the haematoma is there but almost non-existent and baby is entirely fine and appearing healthy and normal on the ultrasound.

The only way that you can know if all is okay is with this next scan unfortunately, but bleeding doesn't always mean the end of the pregnancy. I think the best thing you can do is brace yourself for the worst scenario but know that the reason that you're having a follow up scan is to give you the answers and that there's a chance that your bleeding isn't because you're miscarrying. x

Sinse I posted my thread. I haven’t been too great! After passing so many blood clots. I thought that was the worst of it, but when I went to the loo I passed a huge liver looking thing. I freaked out! I took it out of the toilet to inspect it and I know its gross but I had to cut it open to see if there was a baby inside, it was nothing but blood inside, so possibly it could of been a huge blood clot that formed because I been bleeding for so long, either that or I have miscarried. My back pain and weird feeling in my belly went away as soon as I passed it. I called the hospital they have moved my scan to Monday now the nearest they could fit me in
