Bit upset

A friend of my OH came round yesterday and announced that calling our son Sebastian was cruel because he'll get called ******* and seb-*******. I can't see it personally but it's really upset me. I feel like he's being nasty to our bubs already! We love Sebastain and Seb but I'm really hurt-especially since this guy is called Eugene and his son is called Gabriel-both of which I hate but I've kept my mouth shut. This is a bit of a pointless post but I am really really hurt and upset.

That's sooooo insensitive!! Why do people think they have a right to crisasize if thy don't like the name why can't they just say thts nice or I wouldn't go for it personally but it's still nice instead of comment like that!! I love the name btw x x

We got it too about Jasper, everyone seems to think Jasper is a dogs name - it did worry me for a while but you know what, kids take the mickey out of eachother for anything and everything, i was Fiona Buckingham at school and they used to call me Mona or Biona Fuckingham!
kids are so cruel and if all they have up on you is your name, your laughing!

take no notice seb is so cute i really like it and wouldnt mind calling my boy that if it wasnt for the fact our boy "has to have a muslim name that is comon in the Gambia" makes it really easy to come up with one hey..

I'd be so upset too - one reason we didn't tell anyone our kids' names before they were born was so that nobody got a chance to tell me what they thought of them...I knew I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it, even if I shouldn't really care what they thought

I got it all the time even now my two are older everybody tells me monty is a dogs name but I dont really care I wouldnt have half the kids names in montys school but I wouldnt go around telling them that. I like the name sebastian but i dont see why he has to pick on the name hasnt got call his child that for 20 odd years so hun if you like that name keep it for him dont let anyone put you off the name.
Although someone nearly made me not want to call my lil man Tristan because he would get bullied its like at the end of the day shut up!! lol.

My best friend has just named her son Sebastian, and I love it. It's a strong name and I love it being shortened to Seb.

And so what if names are called in school, i got called Wee Wee for years... now all my mates call me Rhino lol

Yeah we're definatly keeping it-regardless of what anyone might say but it really hurts x it's not set in stone but we refer to him as Seb and really live it-just got to find out if he looks like a Seb x lol x I just wish if people don't have anything nice to say keep their mouth shut! Lol x

I love the name Seb too and agree with what everyone has said-he's an idiot! We have recently moved to Malta and some of the names people are called here make me smile because they are so unusual and not heard of in England and it just makes me realize that sociaty just picks up on the uncommon until it becomes popular and then its a different story- majority of people are sheep!!!

Helen......try and ignore the ******ed comments of others! At the end of the day like the girls have said kids will name call for whatever reason they want to if they are going to so call your baby whatever name yous like its nobody elses business and nothing to do with anyone but you and oh!
