Im know im a bit early - but as my local hospitals a filthy hell hole i wanted to sort out ma options - and just discovered i can use a birthing centre in the next region.

had a wee nosey at their website and it has (what i thought) was good wee section on birth planning - a kinda list of what to start thinking about so thought id share it.

I'm definately leaning towards a natural third stage. I would have the drugs if I needed them but I want to try a natural third stage first. Think that's the only thing I feel strongly about at the mo. I'm gonna go with the flow with regard to pain relief!

yeh - i think im a bit like that - dont wanna jump into anything head first - im usually a kinda go with the flow type person - my big decision is Where! Cos right now im not keen to go to hospital, house is less than 30mins from the hospital - but midwife said first time can be really long and if its at home they are only present for active labour, other option is birthing centre which has 24hr midwives, but its further from hospital than house is if something went wrong. xxx

Great wee website with some interesting info - thanks for sharing

i never made a plan with ds as i really didn't know what to expect the only thing i would change differently this time would be to have my water waters broken if they haven't gone on their own, with ds i was pushing for an hour trying to break them, i had to have them brake them then i pushed for another hour to get him out, i'm hoping if they are broke before i start pushing then it won't take as long!

Mine will say;

No drug but gas n air
Freedom to move around
Break waters if progress stops (this is what happened with jasper)
Cord must stop pulsing before being clamped or cut (very important)
Baby to be handed straight to me or liam before an checks
Drugs for the third stage is fine - have no choice anyway, I am on blood thinners and last time I bleed so much o very nearly needed surgery!
Absolutely no hormonal induction.

At moment im not really fussy about anything - im kinda thinking they're the experts where as ive never done this before. Like in theory i'd be saying no drugs - but then i actually have no idea how much this is gonna hurt! lol

I really wanted to go to a birthing center but im high risk so that out of the window! :(
Im hoping for Just gas and air and maybe some painkillers, A water birth if possible,
They are probably inducing me at 38 weeks according to the doctor so no choice in that,
and im donating the cord blood so however they do that is fine with me....
I know my mum had to have an epidural with her pregnancy's because of her high blood pressure in pregnancy so im hoping i dont get high blood pressure because i wouldn't like that but i will do whatever else the doctor advices i wouldn't risk LO's health because im scared of needles lol x

I have to say, if I was being induced I would want all the drugs! It makes it a million times more painful!

Oh no dont scare me BigBump i feel bad enough already!! I didnt know it was more painful! I may end up screaming at the doctor to dose me up then at least ill know im not just soft lol x
