Not quite sure where to post this but I figured there would be more eyes here.

I have a copper coil, have done for 2 years now. Never had a bother with it, regular consistent cycles etc.

So this month I have no clue what's going on. I started bleeding a week ago, normal start off with darkish blood then went red. I did remain on the reg tampons which isn't usually the case I'm normally much heavier. Boobs have been sore for 2 weeks. Like really sore. This confused me too as they usually go once I start bleeding.

Last night I had tapered off and didn't need a tampon. So I went to bed.

I have woke this morning and went to the loo, only to find a pool of bright red thick blood and I passed a 5-6cm clot. The pan water and pan was like a horror movie and now I'm shitting myself!

Any ideas??

No idea Hun but possibly an early mc? I have known a few people who have had the coil fail on them and have also heard of it becoming dislodged. Definitely go and get checked out, doesn't sound right Hun x

Defo get checked out hun - my friend had the coil no bother for ages then last year she started bleeding on and off so she was gonna get it taken out she said it could be heavy but no sure how shes getting on now as she moved away an its no something id ask her on txt xx

I am thinking all kinds of reasons - I thought pregnancy at first, only because Ive been going to the loo constantly and with my boobs, then yesterday morning I was sick - but I just put that down to tiredness as I was bleeding yesterday??

It was thin red all week so also Im thinking maybe the clot was blocking something off?

My cycle has hormonally felt different this month, its just weird - Ive never seen that amount of blood except after labour. And its not like I havent already been bleeding, Ive went through a full box of tampons and now this morning this...

Think I may take a pregnancy test even if I got a faint it would rule that out! So confusing!!

I think a hpt is a good idea and maybe call your gp for a chat if you're worried.

And, Im not even sure exactly what I passed! I assume its a clot, it didnt feel jaggy, it just came out and when I looked down I seen like the outline and size but obviously the water was red and so was it..

I dont think my coil has came out - but Im wondering if my cycles will just change now? or if its something more.

I will do a test when I get home, if it were a MC do you reacon it would still come up a slight positive even if Ive been bleeding for a week?

I miscarried a week ago today and I tested yesterday and still got a clear and obvious positive.

Can you feel the strings from the coil still?

Oh dear christ Ive never checked! I am supposed to check after every period just incase - I dont fancy reaching my hand in there atm tbh lol!!

I will try a test later then, I feel a bit mental doing that since I have a coil LOL.

I didn't do it after every af but every now and then I'd have a bit of a poke about to check I could still feel them.

Just checked when I went to the Drs last I went on 01/09/2015 (for a gastro condition) at that time, my boobs were in agony (at least for a few days before appt) and I posted it on here because the sides swelt out and I was worried about it. But when I got the Drs, I know it sounds silly but he was like my age LOL and he barely was helpful with the gastro condition never mind me asking silly questions about why my boobs are sore I thought he would have just said its part of your monthly cycle LOL. So basically my boobs are still sore today. More so if I press on them but the start of the month felt actually punched, and has been gradually easing off I guess.

Soo strange!

Definitely think a pregnancy test is a good idea, I tested positive for a good couple of weeks after my mc x

I have one at home, Ill use that and go from there. If its negative I think I may see how long I bleed for then determine whether to wait till next cycle or go to the Drs. If I keep on bleeding I think Ill go to the Drs, but If thats it I will leave it and see what next cycle brings. But best to rule the easiest thing out first.

Im already confused about starting TTC again next year, this would just confuse me even more I think, so I hope it is a negative.. Doesnt sound nice, but I dont mean it offensively.

coils are meant to stop implantation not fertilization.. Did you mention the clot id be most worried about that cause of its size! go see nurse instead theyre more helpful on the topic ive found in my experience ? x

Ive not been to the Drs about the clot, this just happened this morning. 2 weeks ago boobs were sore, started bleeding last week, then stopped last night and woke this morning to pass the clot. I think I may see the nurse actually thats a good idea.

Ill see what the test says. xx

Bleeding hasnt yet tapered off. No more clots, but deffo still not like my normal cycle.

I hope I dont last long bleeding like this! Ill end up no blood left!

Thank you. Im just sitting in shock now.

Never thought I was pregnant, to find out and mc. Alot of processing.

OH is at work, i told him this morning i was planning on testing and just updated him now. Hes asking if i am pregnant bless, i dont think theres chance of that now due to a week bleeding then this.

Next thing running through my head, what next? Should I still see a gp?

Definitely call gp today, even with bleeding its possible to have ectopic with coil in. So sorry hon. I fit these coils and seen one pregnancy in 4 years of fittings. Copper one that time too. It's such a difficult thing to process but you will need help with this so please don't try to manage this without some medical input. X
