i stopped using sunbeds a couple of years ago cos they were giving me premature wrinkles (im only 23!!!!) and started using l'oreal airbrush tan almost daily! cannot cope looking pasty, especially not now that im getting fat!! im just wondering, could this be harmful at all? it doesnt say anything on the can. oh, im just finding things to worry about now!

from what i've heard they are perfectly safe....but only heard from friends....so you might wanna check with mw. cant see what harm it could do though!

lisa xx

Yes you can fake tan (airbrush, bottle etc) it's perfectly safe.
Avoid the sunbeds for a zillion reasons and cover up in the sun while pregnant....it can cause baby to overheat! 8)

HI Honey, yes its fine. First Tri you should avoid, but in second tri its no prob at all - I would be white as a sheet without fake tanxxx

I used fake tan when I was pregnant and had no problems :D

Going a bit off topic here but I really wanna use fake tan, when I go swimming I look so white!

Im too scared to try though cos it'll probably go all orange, I'll even use the spray ones wrong

Any tips on the best ones or how to make it look natural? :)

Ive been using fake tan the whole time, havent even thought about it! oops! I cant stand looking pasty though..... Im a beautician so ive tried loads of products, and if you want a good fake tan i recomend the Shiseido fake tan. it costs about 14 pounds i think and its fantastic, doesnt go orange. (just dont use tons of it! only need a small amount)
What about sunbathing then? how long is it safe to lie out in the sun for? i live in spain and in summer i spend loads of time on the beach, but maybe this year i wont be able to???

Catching some rays is good as it ensures you get enough vitamin D, however, I don't think it should be done in the form of sunbathing. You might become too hot hence cause the baby to overheat.

Last time I was pregnant I used the one which has a subtle build up of colour and is also a moisturiser (Johnsons I think). Once the wee man was born and my belly button went back in, it stayed really really brown for months afterwards (just the belly button while the rest of the tan seemed to wear off!!!)
