Appointment outcome

I always say is your support is never wasted!

1. It shows exactly the purpose for this forum. Guests will lurk first and when they see you are a group of supportive ladies they will sign up for that support themselves where they may be feeling alone beforehand ... not any more.
2. You advice quite often helps someone else ... so like I say never wasted!

<3

i just hate to see people getting emotionally dragged into a situation because if they dont realise its fake they can feel genuinely upset for the person , and be quite badly affected by it . in my last pregnancy there was the same thing on the forum i was on, it seemed a bit weird that her partner came and updated for us that their baby was being born , and died, but there werent so many holes in the story and a lot of people were very upset by what they thought was a tragic outcome but it was all made up. ....

That's terrible, I for one would be lost if I didn't have this forum , it's helped me so much in both pregnancies and I've made some great friends along the way . It's so sad when it's abused and not being used how it's meant to be. X

I have been there GBliz, and i was humiliated at how invested i became in the lie. If it wasnt for the lovely mods here i would have even lent said person money to get things they needed whilst in hospital!

Wobbs - sterling job as usual

I’ve experienced so much over these last 10 years ... I guess I’ve been able to detach myself away from these situations because they just don’t come as any surprise any more.

Don’t get me wrong I know what it feels like and it’s awful. I’ve been stung too. One example is a lady who’d experienced multiple loss’, I followed her whole story then she had a premature baby, I sent gifts with womb sounds etc and she ended up fake. I’ve chased local news reporters and air ambulance services in Canada because I was so convinced a very poorly lady was fake ... they thought I was mad, hey so did I  but we were right and I was determined not to allow any collections to happen for her (whoever)!

You just never know why people create false personalities and make believe lives let alone using such sensitive situations but we never know the mental health issues people have and that can be anything from loneliness, attention seeking and more but also like someone pointed out holidays become a nightmare!

Keep up your support ladies, you’re a fab bunch <3

Half term. Happens on every one! It's easy to spot the genuine from the fake now but I won't say how as it's just giving trolls a way to get better.

School holiday fakers don’t usually care to be fair, its short term fun (word used lightly) but there’s people out there with multiple personalities who carry on for years and get wrapped in this other ‘life’ they have created. Over on BabyandBump we, the team spent weeks on one lady, she was everywhere all over the Internet, she’d go to the parent/forum meets (not just BnB) but never took her children ... she actually sent me an email thanking us for catching her out (I also emailed all the pregnancy and parenting forums), she didn’t know how to stop. I didn’t ask her why etc but wished her well. This was about 5 years ago then she emailed me last year told me who she was and was genuinely pregnant and asked could she join as a genuine user.

It’s not always easy to spot the fakes regardless of how much experience you have of them.

Anyway this user has been deactivated and given contact information if they wish to discuss the account with me further.

Yes you're right. For some it is a genuine illness. With the chap who faked his death, it was built up over 3 years. He got a girlfriend and she joined the forum and another member local to him used to go on rideouts with him (bike forum). Both accounts proved to be his. What really made the mods step in was his girlfriend setting up a gofundme type appeal for his ill mother as she wouldn't cope without his help. People were wanting to send hundreds, one person sent over £2k. It ended up in police hands. It can get very real and scary!

It’s disgusting that people take advantage of others good nature.
I don’t know if it’s an attention seeking thing?
It’s very disturbing

Horrid and the worst kind IMO, a little but of clever and a well thought out 'plan' to financially gain.

Hope the police got to the bottom of it!

Yes, one of the forum members was quite involved in that kind of work and didn't have much trouble finding him so police could act easily. Just one ma working from his own garage selling bike parts and spending far too much time online! Never found out the eventual outcome as we chose as a forum to draw a line under it. I do know those who did donate got their money back though.

From someone who was genuinely in hospital with a suspected eptopic pregnancy I will never understand a persons motive to lie about something so traumatic. I can also guarantee that you would not be online posting every 5 mins, all you can think about is how desperately you want your baby to be ok while being with your loved ones. Wish these people would consider how upsetting these lies are to the ladies that experience real difficulties during their pregnancies!

apart from where its a money scam, i think these people have to be mentally ill and have some kind of munchausens syndrome? it seems a lot of research on pregnancy for kids to do on half term just to wind people up? but who knows....

When I was pregnant with my first (in 2011), there was a member of our due date club who was like this. She actually has a lot of kids (unfortunately, as she's a complete disaster of a human being), but had faked the death of one of her babies on another forum at the same time as she was a member of ours. Any secure, well-adjusted individual absolutely cannot comprehend how anybody would conceive of such a thing, let alone actually carry it out. It's deeply disturbing.

Fortunately, instinctively we can usually smell a rat. This particular user who started this thread made my hackles go up with her first post in the "premature babies" section where she claimed she'd not had an appointment after her 12-week scan, and that she was "convinced" she'd have this baby premature... and yet that she wouldn't go to see the midwife cause she was scared... I was like, real human beings don't behave this way. You're so full of it.

I am so grateful for the real women on this forum sharing real support, even if it's for a fake personality or story. As Wobbles so astutely pointed out, that is never wasted; that is never wrong.

It definitely must be a mental illness where there’s nothing to gain financially. Some
People seem to be in their element having medical input lavished on them. You wouldn’t believe the disgusting lengths I’ve seen people go to, to stay in hospital when there is actually no need.

If anything good can come from these posts is that this forum is pulling together and thank you wobbles x

Hi ladies, I'm currently 6 months pregnant and I have only ever been to my 12 week scan, never knew what gender or if the baby is okay. I have never liked my midwife or doctor so I haven't attended any anti-natal appointments or check-ups.

PLEASE do not miss your appointments! They are there for the safety of your baby as well as yourself!!!

SF2018, please don't be worried. The OP has had her account deactivated as this thread and her others proved to be nothing but a sadistic pack of lies. Xx

Oh gosh, caught up and feel so silly for worrying!! How awful to do something like that.

As has been sensibly said...no good advice is ever wasted so don't feel silly. X
